QUOTE FOR THE DAY:
"If you lose hope, somehow you lose the vitality that keeps life moving, you lose that courage to be, that quality that helps you go on in spite of it all. And so today I still have a dream."
Martin Luther King, jr
Well, let's just say-- it was a bit of an anti-climactic start to my placement off.
Didn't do much this week. But I guess you just have to get used to it.
I don't really mind now.
Bit slow, but I think it's awesome.
All we do is drive around to do some home visits and maybe some assessments, there's two teams- one that goes for usual home visits, then the other with a Doctor to do assessments on clients and what not.
Then we go out to lunch! woooh.
TUESDAY:
Came in my uniform (VU nursing&midwifery uniform), and got told my the manager to just wear casual for the rest of the placement.
Went to a few homes from Wyndham Vale to Werribee to West Footscray and stopped over at a cafe on Geelong road, called Brooklyn cafe I think? ... It's a truckie cafe lol.. Got myself a Hamburger with the lot & a can of coke for $7. Pretty good I think, though-- I don't think I should have eaten such a humungo burger, I'm still feeling the effects of it! ARGHH. Ever since then I've been like getting massively huge headaches. =( But it's probably just stress and has nothing to do with the burger and I'm just going crazy. lol
WEDNESDAY:
Ate Apryl came back from the Philz!.. I didn't get to pick her up with my rents though, coz I had to be at the office by 8am and her flight was at 7am which got delayed and she didn't come out til 9.30am.
AWESOME ass day!!
I finally met my preceptor, his name is James and I have this inkling that he may be gay. lol
We went off to Saltwater clinic in footscray to pick up one of the docs on CAT team and who the fck do I find sitting at reception looking back at me?
MATT. MATT MOLLOY. . . The son (and one of my holden boys) of the unit manager at the in patient unit at Werribee Mercy.
Talk about RANDOM! He was looking at me like WTF..
After that, we went off to see a client that needed M.O Review (Medical Officer Review) but I got told to stay in the car for this one cos apparently he COULD get violent (and he's ferral. lol)...
Then we went to see another client in Werribee and went to lunch at a Cafe in Watton Street. =)
THURSDAY:
I told the team I needed to leave at 1pm coz I had debrief back at Werribee Mercy, so they told me to drive my car there- then they'd pick me up so that when we finished, they could just drop me off there again. =)
We saw two clients again that day, one of which was at the most RANDOM-EST place ever.
Altona Gate Shopping centre.
She wasn't comfy seeing us at home-and plus, he husband was working her like a dog. =|
We had morning tea there, then went to see the next client back at werribee.
We finished at 12pm and they dropped me off.
Debrief was uber boring.
Arianne asked me if I had a way to get home, coz if I didn't she'd take me coz she was going to see Ate Apryl anyways.
But I actually had my car that day.
See, Monday & Wednesday- I got dropped off by my dad coz he needed to use my car (Monday- he bought stuff for tiling & Wednesday- ate apryl came home).
FRIDAY:
hrms.. Same same pretty much.
We ended up having a coffee break at a Cafe next to the Civic centre? haha I don't remember.
But they had AWESOME White Chocolate Macadamia slices. YUMMYY.
I hope everyone else is doing good!
I can't wait to see you guys toms! Wait... I mean TODAY! =)
