Summary: Takuto watches Mitsuki deal with her pain and wants to do whatever he can to help her.
After Mitsuki finished her shower she stepped quietly into her room. Her long, brown hair was wet and her nightgown clung to her damp skin. She looked pale and exhausted.
Takuto watched her out of the corner of his eyes as he pretended to play cards with Meroko.
He knew what was coming, and he counted each step she took towards her bed.
One step, two…Mitsuki stopped, and Takuto watched helplessly as her eyes went glossy and her breathing became labored.
‘Just a single snap,’ Takuto’s mind screamed, ‘a single snap and she’d be fine.’
A few unbearable seconds passed, before the young girl pushed herself to keep moving. She glanced his way to make sure he wasn’t watching and he turned away just in time.
If the one thing he could give her, in these moments, was her pride…he would do it, because it was all Takuto could do. Mitsuki had forbid him to turn her into Full Moon if there was a slight chance her Grandmother could see it.
She pushed herself to the max; sweat begun to run down her forehead.
“Only two more steps,” he heard her mutter under her breath.
She lied on her back with her chest heaving franticly up and down as she tried to regain her strength.
He could see her mouth moving and strained his ears to hear her. Takuto caught the first verse of ‘Eternal Snow’ and slowly closed his eyes. She sang it like a prayer, and he was beginning to consider the song just that…A prayer for Mitsuki.

It’s amazing to her how different she feels when she turns into Full Moon.
She wants to run fast and far…she wants to jump up and down… she wants to sing at the top of her lungs.
And sometimes when the pain gets too much, she wants to beg Takuto to let her stay as she is until her time comes.
She’ll look in the mirror and think to herself.
‘This is what I’ll never look like; this is what I’ll never become.’
Twelve to Sixteen: Sixteen to Twelve....those four years in between were a dream she would never have.
“What was it like being fourteen?” she asked Takuto once as she was getting ready for a show.
He gave her a heartrending look and she realized how illicit and foolish it was for her to ask. She bowed her head repeatedly and asked for his forgiveness.
Takuto shook his head as he reached out and touched her cheek, “Mitsuki, I-I…” he sighed and lowered his head so his bangs were covering his eyes, “All I know, Mitsuki, is that right now… right now is as good as it gets…”
Mitsuki knew that other people would’ve become disheartened to hear such words, but to her, those words were as sweet sounding as the snap of Takuto’s fingers.

The machines were helping her to breathe, and in a few more minutes, the Gravel would set in.
Mitsuki couldn’t have any pain relief until the Gravel was in her body. The last time they tried to give her some pain medication, without the Gravel, she got violently ill.
It had been awful, and even though she wanted the pain relief very badly, she’d wait…it would only a bit longer…. ‘Please, let it only be a little bit longer.’
In the meantime, her head was throbbing horribly and the burn in her throat was unbearable…every breath was torture.
Mitsuki opened her eyes slightly to see Takuto standing at the edge of her bed. He looked exhausted and as close to breaking as she’d ever seen him before. She tried to give him a smile, but instead, a sharp burst of pain made her cry out.
“God damn it, this ends now,” Takuto snarled, “One snap, one god damn snap, and the pain is gone.”
She nodded her head and could literally see the tension drain from his shoulders.

When Takuto screamed her name she didn’t look up.
She didn’t care that her fingers were burning from the frost in the air.
She didn’t care that her toes and ears were numb…because, at that moment, everything was numb… and nothing, NOTHING mattered anymore!
“I’m waiting, Eichi, come and find me,” she whispered to the cold stone underneath her body, “We can be together now.”
She didn’t fight him off, when she felt her body getting lifted up into the sky. She was flying away, and for a brief second, she could believe she was flying towards him… b-but soon…soon Mitsuki would have to face reality and go back down.
“Are you trying to kill yourself?” Takuto hissed into her ear.
She didn’t answer, because she knew he’d be even more upset, if she did.
“S-s-s-s-nap your fingers,” she whispered, “make the p-pain go away, Takuto, like you always do.”
She felt the arms around her tighten, and wondered why Takuto was crying too.

“Takuto?! Takkkkutoooo!”
He turned on his heels and tilted his head at the young girl running towards him. He’d never seen her before, but from the way she’d called his name and stared at him, he must’ve have met her somewhere before.
“Do I know you?” he asked.
She didn’t answer him, but instead, reached out to touch his face.
“Takuto,” she repeated his name as if it were a prayer.
Takuto blinked a few times before he stared down at his hand. His fingers tingled and before he even realized it, he began to snap repeatedly.
“What is this?” he muttered as he stared at her with bewildered eyes.
“Takuto,” the young girl whispered as she drew closer. She placed her hand on his and thankfully stopped him from snapping again.
“You can stop now, Takuto, I swear I’m alright.”
