By now, most people interested living in different time zones from myself probably already saw this already, but I just woke up to it, and a squee must not be denied:

As
likeadeuce put it, the trailer looks as if they've filmed every Charles/Erik fanfic ever. Just to show I'm not hopelessly shippery about the first couple in the Marvelverse I got interested in, I am also intrigued by the very specific choosing of the Cuban missile crisis as a setting, and Kennedy's voice in lieu of a narrator. I might give the scriptwriters/producers too much credit, but given the immense mythological status the Kennedy era has in the public consciousness - both good and bad - I think it's a great choice for a story that, however they choose to tell it, will start with shared ideals and end in violence and breaking apart. The Cuban missile crisis is the WWIII which does not happen, but meanwhile preparations are made for the Vietnam war which does. And of course the whole how-to-achieve-social-change question, with or without violence, is such a very 1960s issue. (Err, also present day, but you know what I mean.)

...also everyone looks really good in that trailer. I'm just saying.
