Fannish5 wants historical RPF; Sean Lennon is a human chibi

fannish5: Name five historical characters whose lives you'd like to see adapted into movies or TV series.

1.) Hatshepsut, pharao of Egypt, one of the few female ones. (Yes, there were more than two.) (Though not many.) Now I'm admittedly biased in favour of Pauline Gedge's novel about her, so my ideal would be for that novel to be the basis of a film or ( Read more... )

al andalus, federico secondo, egypt, ono, mccartney, teophanu, dumas, byzantium, ibn naghrela, fair game, lennon, meme, history, hatshepsut

Sean is ADORABLE. I always love his anecdotes about his mother.

Also, Marie-Cesette. Goddamn, I would've killed myself had I been her. That's so sad.

Terribly sad, and the worst part is that hers was the fate of so many. (Whose names we don't even know because they had no writers as grandchildren.) It wasn't any help to her, but on the other hand Sainte-Domingue was the only example of a successful slave revolt resulting in a new poc-governed state.

Well yay for that last bit, in general terms.

Super-interesting list! I'll have to peruse the links after work.

Samuel's life is a fascinating part of Jewish-Muslim-Spanish history, and made for a cinematic treatment.

That could be amazing, as long as it's more Agora and less Kingdom of Heaven.

Quite so, yes.

Well, Umberto Eco's Baudolino is kind of about Frederick II... he's not the main character, though.

Err, no, that's his granddad, Frederick I, old redbeard himself.

Oops! Been a while since I read it - I must have gotten my Fredericks mixed up.

Good choice!;) I'd love to see a biopic on each and everyone of them. Strange to think there isn't one on Hatshepsut already, come to think of it. But I love Pauline Gedge's novel - first read it when I was about 14 on a weekend trip with my choir. Another girl had taken it with her, and I borrowed it and couldn't stop until I had finished it. I had known about Hatshepsut before, but this got me really interested.:)

With the Dumas clan, again, it's strange to think there's no French series yet. Or do you think the "ethnic" dimension might have been an issue?

By the way, Sean Lennon is still cute. And it's amazing to see the resemblance to his father.:)

His mother, too. When I first saw a picture of Sean, it struck me how much he resembles *both* parents.

Yes, absolutely. Like a synthesis of the two of them.:)

I read the novel as a teenager as well and was so fascinated that it never left me. :)

Dumas: are you aware of what happened with the last Dumas biopic?

Sean Lennon: is like a Disney cartoon come to life, indeed.
