Holy crap
Breaking Bad is getting better and better as the season comes to a close. All of you who fell under Janes spell ought to have known from the get go that she would be trouble, and as you could see from the highlights from next weeks episode, she will be. Smack. Too bad. I'll never understand the allure of heroin.
If you haven't been watching it every week then you really do lose...you really do.
IN OTHER NEWS, I finished
Anathem. Very satisfactory and even above satisfactory in some most ways. To me this story seems like it would have more impact with someone who has never explored any kind of info about parallel existences, but if you have read a bunch of quantum/superstring crap beforehand then the -big interesting idea- of the book will just seem old hat. I jump to parallel existences all the time, several times a day in fact. I could teach you how but I won't so don't ask. But for reals, the -made up word- effects of the book will linger for a while...when I see a smartphone I think "jeejah", a video camera a "speelycaptor", and of course I hear a lot of "bulshytt" all the time. I would not recommend this as the first Neal Stephenson book for someone to read (that would almost certainly be The Diamond Age or Snow Crash) but it is worth the commitment if you are a fan. I guess the next Neal I'll try to tackle will be The Baroque Cycle trilogy, but it will be a while before I take on that mountain...time to take it back in scale for a while.
Freakonomics is already on hold for me at the libe airy. I'm only like 4 years late reading it, but hey, I'm not concerned about being current...
No more work was doneon the new comp today except putting bookmarks on the browser. ho hum.
