I haven't been told "No" for the paid internship position I applied for.
I have been told that they are "too busy to do an interview right now, so we'll call you next week". That's a lot better than "No". I believe them. I don't think I am being given the run around. As a bonus, it gives me time to reverse engineer more aspects of their sample sites and learn how to construct them, which is going pretty well. Markup code doesn't phase me at all anymore. I remember when I used to look at it and go, "Huh?". Javascript still makes me feel like that. I don't think I'll have to do much .js though.
I'm thinking a good strategy would be to show up with a sample site I build for a mock client to show during the interview, which pretty much rips off all their design cues. That could be the deal sealer.
Meanwhile, I need to make some loot.
