The Micheal Vick controversy continues. Today was the first day of Atlanta Falcons training camp here in beautiful sunny Flowery Branch. Of course there were protesters a'plenty outside the facility gates, but the real winner was this plane which circled the camp for a while during practice.
In case you can't read it, it says "New Team Name? Dog-Killers?
Perfectly freakin awesome. That being said, here is my official stance on the Vick thing. He can SUCK IT. I haven't thought he was all he was cracked up to be ever since that one season early on in his Falcons career where he got hurt and sat out the ENTIRE SEASON (while getting paid) even though he probably could have played after about 6 weeks. I don't remember what the injury was, but it was so evident that he viewed it as a "money for nothing" season.
News shows all day today tried as hard as they could to make the animal abuse indictment a racial thing, but it just isn't, so that angle didn't fly at all.
Moving on to Braselton news, I went to Road Atlanta today to check out day one of the Gwinnett Bike Fest, which featured a circuit race of the Road Atlanta facility. Man that place is HUGE..I have GOT to go to car race there sometime soon. The bicycle racing was great...2.5miles, wide enough to pass anywhere on the course, and a couple of burly no-nonsense climbs. I was pretty much the only spectator who brought a bike, so while everyone else congregated near the grandstand and registration area, I rode all over the gigantic facility taking pics and scoping out where I would want to camp if I go to the 24 hour car race they have there every year. I may have actually missed this years though...oh well. I couldn't help but think the entire time I was there, how wicked it would have been to do a large scale outdoor multi-day (uh oh...here it comes) rave there. You guys remember raves right? They used to matter.
Heres an aerial view of the facility:
The bike race was well attended, but nothing like what they show in this pic.
After the bicycle race was over, I had some Jittery Joe's and then went shopping for apples and pears. I found a really great loooking Granny Smith, which I bought even though I really don't like them. Sometimes you have to give things a second chance.
