i really had trouble with this since... according to the manga, lavi seemed to be rather aloof when he first came to the order and his friendliness was merely a façade. and it only changed after a year or two but feel free to ask me to redo or request again if you dislike it.

His finger hooked around hers, a foreign gesture but entirely familiar to him all the same. Her lips were curved upwards but barely concealing the pain she felt. His eyes flickered over the scratches on her face, on her neck, the bruises on her arms. Her long dark hair framed her fragility; her dress cloaked her frailty. Just like the little girl he had caught glimpse several days before, cheeks stained with tears.
She was fourteen, he was sixteen. She was simply an Exorcist. He was more than one.
"Jerry told me that if you break your promise, you'll have to cut off your finger," she told him, her voice unusually stern.
He almost took a step back, apprehensively so, his lips pressed together. He was not permitted to respond to that. He was not permitted to say anything. For a moment, he was silent, his green eyes trained on their fingers, then he cracked a lopsided smile, empty and inconsequential. A mask and a lie.
"You know I can't promise anything, Lenalee." Not to her, not to anyone.
She shook her head firmly. "No. Just this one, Lavi."
He averted his gaze from her. He still was unused to the new name he acquired, the name he needed to move on. “All right.”
Another mask, another lie.
He knew she could see it in his eyes, empty as they were, but she simply brushed them all away, whatever it was she had seen. She let his finger and hand drop, nodding slightly.
“After the war, whatever happens, promise you won't forget. Just don’t forget.”
‘Don’t forget.’ A promise he could never fulfill, would never have the freedom to fulfill. But he would try, at the very least.

Heee. Thanks :) and don't worry about it. When I requested for this fic, I didn't expect it to be fluffy or romance-laden due to the characters, the timeline and such, but I was kinda hoping it's not that angsty and Lavi isn't completely heartless either :3
But kudos to you, I think this fic is lovely and the execution is perfect. Though, honestly, I didn't expect you to write in Lavi's POV XD (I kept on thinking Lenalee-centric = Lenalee POV)
Still, thanks for writing it and would you mind if I request for another one? :) You write such lovely fics and I'd like to see what you can do with some of the prompts above :)
i'm so sorry about the angst u____u my muse is going through a lot of angst lately in my RPs lol~
that would depend on the interpretation though. as long as the main focus would be lenalee, despite it being someone else's POV, i think it's still lena-centric? i dunno *shot* but yeah, it kinda turned lavi-centric there for a moment.
and sure, request as much as you want~ but yeah. would you mind replying to the entry again? xDDDD my OCness is showing.
Nah, no worries. As said, I was kinda expecting it XD It'll be weird if it's all lovey-dovery. There are only 14, 16 :3
Yup, you are right. I just presume that it'll be Lena POV. It'll be hard to write her POV at that age, cause we know what Lavi think but not Lenalee :)

Yup, you are right. I just presume that it'll be Lena POV. It'll be hard to write her POV at that age, cause we know what Lavi think but not Lenalee :)
