As Goes the Weather, So Goes My Mood

Hello children. (Hi Chef) Lessee, what have I been up to?

Friday was 3 years for Kris and I. All I knew when the day began was that I should dress up and that we had reservations somewhere. He got out of work early so we'd have plenty of time to get where we were going, which shows excellent thoughtfulness on his part. And still there was so much traffic that we just barely made our reservations at a super-fancy Italian restaurant in Harrah's in AC. We shared a lovely fancy meal a prosciutto, mozzarella, and red pepper appetizer and seafood pasta. Then we went downstairs to see Movin Out. It was a strange show, not what I expected but still good, especially the talent level of the dancers. All in all, it was a wonderful night. He know what I love and gave it to me to the letter. I was also happy he appreciated the NY Philharmonic tickets I got him to see John Williams conducting.

I feel it's important to mention that I am impressed by our relationship. We have been through a lot as individuals and as a couple in the last three years and I don't think either one of us ever seriously considered leaving the other. We totally love each other, which is both important and very nice. He is truly the best thing in my life and I'm so happy I found him.

Saturday we hung around and just spent time together which, vacation aside, isn't something we've been able to do much of, so that was nice. That night we went to his friend's birthday party. The first half of the evening I was letting my displeasure with my life affect my confidence with talking to his friends and I was having a pretty quiet time. Then someone invited me to play FlipCup. Kris dragged me out of the party at 1 am :)

Sunday morning, after diriving back up, I went out to West Jersey where I met up with Sarah and went to a little teeny airport. Her brother the pilot took us up in a Cessna. It was so cool! I had never been up in a little tiny plane but it was really awesome to be able to see everything and really feel the sensation of flying. I got a ton of pictures and got to sit right next to the pilot. I really geeked out over it, it was awesome.

Since then, I started my full time schedule at the cafe. It's hard. I'm tired all the time. Almost everyone who works there is quitting to go back to school or for various reasons. We had a big corporate visit this week that was grueling, but at least it got me to brush up on the proper procedures for a lot of things. So now that most of the staff is fairly new and I have a position of authority, maybe things will be done right. Other than that, I've been doing a middling job of fighting off depression. Job searches are long and slow and hard and do not inspire much hope. And in the meantime, I feel like kind of a jerk, working back in food service. I've latched on to helping my mom plan my cousin's wedding shower, just to have something I feel good about doing that isn't too hard (writing I do feel good about it but unfortunately working 8 hour shifts on your feet dealing with supremely entitled customers makes you too tired for that a lot of the time).

But I do finally get my car back tomorrow. After 26 days without it, it will be nice to at least not have to rely on anyone for transportation, especially as I had to take 2 buses in the rain to get to work yesterday. As always, trying to stay positive.
