LOL English Voice Actors horrible durr durr
So, I'm looking up some Persona 4 vids on YouTube when I see the English voice-acted King's Game vid. I look at a comment on there from some dude going "Ugh, this sounds so much better in Japanese."
Cue Bullshit Alarm.
Me typing in response: "Then go play it in Japanese, you fuckin' weeaboo." Exact words, real talk, no mincing.
OK, time to get a little something off my chest...people need to cut the English voice actors a little slack. Sure, they tend to mess up on some games and anime and whatnot...a lot...but compared to the past ten years, I'd say they've improved a bit. I honestly did not mind a drunken Rise and a drunken Yukiko as portrayed by Laura Bailey and Amanda Winn Lee, respectively; hell, I actually think they pulled it off better than their seiyuu counterparts.
I also believe that there are some guys on both sides of the pond that could use a little work (I'm talking to both of you, Yuri Lowenthal and Tomokazu Seki; you both tend to overdo your shit a little too much). Sometimes I hear hams, sometimes I hear some good ones (see: Johnny Yong Bosch).
All in all, what I'm trying to say is: if you think you can do better, try contacting a talent agency and see if you can do a part in a game or anime. If you feel you can't, shut the hell up and leave it to the professionals.
