"Hello, Strahan," Asar-Suti said when he came by the next time. He wondered why Strahan was doing this in an out-of-way corner of the bar, not the library.
On the other hand, a candle in the library would probably inflame the Seker as well.
"Oh, totally fascinating subject," Asar-Suti said. "I find they help me a lot. Theoretically, I am nothing but fiery magical energy and can randomly be anything - like make my nose grow longer, make my hair another colour, and so on. However, I find I snap from one pre-prepared morphogenetic field to the next much more easily than creating a shape on the fly."
That's because you gave up everything "human" a long time ago. You're only just now re-learning it.
"I have not seen you another colour other than the colour you are," he says. It could be a joke. Maybe. "As to forms, well. I believe there are shapes yet to be tried. I have been animal many times; there must be other things to become.
Asar-Suti was always purple because that was his default; he'd have to concentrate to be another colour.
"You know how to use glamours to turn yourself into different people," Asar-Suti stated, "but that's not the same as turning yourself into another person with your entire being."
We want to see him concentrate and go retro or something.
Or perhaps tartan.
"Aye, I do, but they are only illusions. And one cannot be satisfied with mere illusion for very long."
It almost sounds as though he learned the shapechange because he was tired of illusion, but he'd learned it in order to master a branch of magic denied to his race.
"I have not become another person completely, though there are times when I wish I could. There are advantages to it, to see things from angles unthought-of."
"Oh, definitely," Asar-Suti said. He was certainly not going tartan.
"I sometimes use female shape, just because it's interesting for a change. Gil, though, prefers me male, so I haven't been female all that often lately."
He shape-shifted, though, as he could, and wanted to show Strahan.
Those must be words for parts of the female anatomy. He knows that. Although "boob" means something else entirely for him.
"I see." He's got a thoughtful expression on his face.
Changing your physical being entirely. Become another race. Go female. If Asar-Suti can do it surely he could. And if he could he could set his plans into motion.
On the other hand, a candle in the library would probably inflame the Seker as well.

Dis. As. Ter.
"Hello my lord," he says, not looking up.
This paragraph requires his [almost] full attention.

Hello, my lord.
He grinned.
"What are you reading about, Strahan?"
Reply
"Morphogenetic fields," he replies. "I wish to understand them better."

And people to use it on teach it to."

That has Strahan's attention.
"I had no idea you could do that. Is it a thorough transformation and not a glamour?"
A polite way to ask if those are real and not fake.

Surely you can tell me 'Aye Strahan; it is thorough' without pointless attempts at levity?"

This really is getting nowhere.
"So I am to assume that the change is as complete as it is when you assume an animal shape?"
