I spent several hours just looking for a place to stream the match, so thank GOD for TVAnts. Australian public TV was showing, er... ping pong and tennis or sumfing liddat. Ran to friend's room to try her laptop streaming capabilities, came up empty. Ran back to own room. Prayed for my internet not to fail me and started streaming CCTV-5. It's a night of firsts, I tell ya. First time cooking with chicken stalk, first time streaming anything on my laptop AND first time watching a match with Mandarin commentators. *pumps fist*
By the time I got connected, the first set was already halfway through. Felt heart dropping at prospects for an even match. My friend ran over from her room, in another BLOCK, in the NIGHT, to watch the second set with me. Seemed like she went back in less than half an hour.
Mom called after the match and we had International Sighing Session. Poor guy... Mom said he looked in shock, bro said he looked every bit the underdog ("even his arms were skinnier than Lin Dan's!"), and I just kinda sighed and lamented loudly in the laptop's general direction.
Yeah, silver's awesome and all that. Seems like forever since Malaysia had a fighting chance at a gold medal.

Next four years, man. You beat him before, you can do it again!
I haven't been this excited about sports in years. Cool. Didn't even know about Lin Dan until now-- THAT's how long I've been out of the badminton loop. That guy could smash the an interdimensional space portal through you with that shuttlecock, wtfwtfwtf. You could HEAR the power in those smashes, and doesn't it seem like he's all over the court at once? It's like Lee couldn't even find a corner that Lin Dan couldn't reach. Whoa.
And, on a note completely unrelated to sports but possibly of interest to the fairer half of the audience... he's cute too. :P
