Hanazono

On Monday morning another high school came to the university. It was a rather rough start, mostly because only half the expected people showed up(and less than half of that when the students arrived) but it went over well.

Hanazono High School is from Osaka, and they showed us some pictures of their campus and events and whatnot after we did a short walk through of the campus. It was a bit overkill with the gifts because less people showing up meant more schwag per person. One of the girls I met was into the Blue Hearts/High-Lows/Cro-magnons which I thought was pretty cool. It was pretty basic actually, we had lunch and stuff after doing some activities(uninteresting ones, one dude even crashed out) then they left.

Oh, but I had a nice conversation with this girl named Aika. We talked about a lot of things and she was really nice. Her English was probably the best out of all the other students. Remarkable! She liked books so she took some pictures in the library. I asked her if she read Murakami and she said "yes! yes!". I don't know all the Japanese titles of the Murakami books but I remember the one for Kafka on the Shore and she told me she fancied that one. Apparently she liked glasses to a certain extent, but when we took pictures she insisted on taking them off. Either way I liked talking with her and I felt really strange when I opened the gift she gave me and half of her plane ticket accidentally dropped inside. (>_>)

On the other end of the world, I ended up getting a few things I've been wanting in the mail and one in particular was Shachi's 1,000th show DVD, obviously, commemorating their 1,000th live show since becoming a band. Hankn(which I now know is pronounced Han-kun) played drums since Sube has been gone and this is the first time I've seen him in action, so to say. Not bad, and I have to commend him on not staying absolutely true to the original drum parts and alternating them to fit his playstyle. Sure, Sube will be missed, but at least Hankn isn't bad on the drumset. And of course the setlist for this one was mind-blowing. I got to here practically the entire Wolfist album, which was, as expected, just fantastic live.
What I was waiting for on the DVD was a segment where a few bands were going to cover some Shachi songs but it never came up in the main setlist. I was rather sad, I mean, perhaps I mis-translated something, but it showed up in the bonus section. And wow, even if the songs were cut seeing Good 4 nothing, Saboten, and dustbox covering some older shachi tracks was just too good to pass up.
The afterword was good too. As the "credits"(actually, just all the 1,000 shows they played) rolled they talked to the fans exiting the 1000th show. Each one had the same deal to say but I thought it was a cool little thing to do. Everyone said "Congrats!" "Many more, it was really good!" and there was even a baby-Shachi mascot. Erm, well, two parents liked Shachi so much that they brought their kids. One couldnt even walk and he had on this tiny t-shirt with SHACHI on it and a sweat band. That was awesome.

In the meantime I'm trying to finish the final 3 volumes of I''s as well as Yokohama Wiener, Quruli's new DVD. Both have been great so far but I'm trying hard to make them last, as summer is still quite a while away from ending.

P.S. I'll put up some pictures as soon as I get home. Almost forgot (TAT)
