Decisions..
All my transcripts are sent over to GCC and I am able to start taking classes this coming summer. I have an appointment to speak with the transcript person as well as my future adviser for the nursing program there.
I also have an appointment to go speak to someone at UofR for their accelerated nursing program. I haven't applied to that one just yet, but probably will after I speak with them.
Breakdown..
GCC is super cheap
UofR will give me a loan almost equal to that of my Master's degree loan.
I can pay out of pocket for most of GCC; I can apply and hope to get scholarships for the UofR. Cost wise, GCC is the way for me to go; I really don't want to have a $52,000 loan. But then there is the fact that UofR is ranked #32 in the nation for nursing schools. Then there is what my mom said (and it's not negative in any way really. I think she's really pushing me to go back to school for nursing...) Rank doesn't matter so much as experience and common sense... You are going to get the same type of nursing education whether you go to a 1 year, 2 year or 4 year program - They all give you an RN in the end, and that's really what counts.
In a way she is right. All the course work is pretty much the same, just located under different course names. GCC gets your electives and nursing courses out of the way in two years; UofR gets all the nursing courses out of the way crammed into 1 year; if you go to a four year college, you just get the benefit of having more debt and a bachelor's degree. I already have that so it really depends on how much I want to stress myself out. I already did that in Grad school. I don't know if I really want to do that at UofR.
Problem..
While I have a job now, it ends soon. I have been trying to get a part time job that will be flexible, but am unable to find one at the current time. I have applied to a place call med-scribe and they told me to give them a call back once I know what my schedule will be like. It's promising. They seem to be interested in me.
But finding a job in general is crap. I am trying to look for something medical... med tech, med, billing, med whatever, but it's IMPOSSIBLE to find. I'm applying like crazy to jobs on CareerBuilders.com but haven't gotten anything back yet. It's so discouraging. But I still try. I have been applying to 4-5 jobs a day (sometimes more).
Conclusion...
Get into classes this summer for nursing school. Keep up the job search, something will come along eventually. decided which is going to be the better, less stressful nursing school option for you.
Other thoughts...
I have been working on a lot of art work recently and would like to put out there that if anyone is interested in a commission, let me know. Or if you know someone who is interested in an art commission, let me know or give 'em my email address: AmityLenore@gmail.com
I've also gotten a lot do today considering it's been pretty busy at work. =)
