Ryoma walked down the covered outdoor corridor, there was a light drizzle and he didn't want to get Atobe's reports wet, even if they were in the leather briefcase Atobe had gifted him. He had just finished the latest set of reports and had to get them over to Atobe, he didn't want the King mad at him. There was practically no one on campus - it was a weekend after all, and it was raining - so Ryoma was suprised to see a figure at the far end of the corridor.

It might be the weekend, but a Knight’s job was never ever done. While Shishido did patrols and took his duties seriously, Sanada took it to the next level of extreme. He even patrolled on what was supposed to be a day off. There was no such thing as a day of rest for the kendo captain. At the moment, there wasn’t much going on though and he had stepped inside to dry off just a little. He’s step back out soon enough. But it was a good thing he had, as he noticed a suspicious looking person coming down what was supposed to be an empty hall with a briefcase. Spy from another school? Theif? Test Cheater? Setting his jaw, Sanada started towards the smaller figure hurrying his way.

Ryoma noticed the figure approaching him, and clutched the briefcase tighter, not wanting Atobe’s reports to be messed up or stolen. He relaxed slightly when he recognized the figure. He thought he had seen the man before, one of the Knights maybe? Still, it never hurt to be cautious, and he stopped to acknowledge the figure. “Have I met you before?” He muttered. Why was someone out now anyway?

Sanada stopped. There was still a bit of distance between them, but he knew he could get to the smaller quickly if he had to. Without thinking, his hand drifted to his side. His sword wasn’t there. He didn’t wear it on patrol. He was skilled enough with hand to hand. He looked at the man and tried to think of where he had seen him. He could only picture flipped up silver hair and a mole and an ego the size of a small planet. “Ah.” He answered in his typical stunted fashion. ‘You’re one of...the Kings.” Now if only he could place the kid.

Ryoma narrowed his eyes. He didn't like the tone the man took when he said "King." He recognized the man now, one of Ryou's men perhaps? He had a refined look to him, like a martial artist, but Ryoma was skilled enough in street fighting if it came to that. “Yes, I am - and proud of it. Echizen Ryoma, First Knight.”

“Hn.” A typical response from the larger man as he crossed his arms in front of his chest. How was it that he didn’t recognize his own fellow knight. He supposed it was because he made it a personal goal in life to be anywhere but social functions. Even the dance at the beginning of the year, he had only been there momentarily. Not enough time at all to meet his fellow knights. “Sanada Genichirou. Knight of Arms.” He still preferred samurai to knight... but as they were being formal...

Sanada? Ryoma had been watching when they had slid the new nameplate in the room across from his. "Ah, you just changed to Haru dorm, didn't you? I'm in the room across from yours. Nice to meet you." He extended a hand. Atobe had made it very clear that he had to be cordial to all the students, and particularly vocal about maintaining relations with his fellow knights.

A curt nod. He had made the request and had planned on moving at some point during the weekend. In fact, he wanted to be in before that most dreaded and pinkest of holidays. “Ah. That would be correct. I claimed the room as my prize...for being number 6 for the last three months.” He agreed, yet couldn’t help the competitiveness, and gave his fellow knight...and next door neighbor a polite bow. “It is nice to meet you as well, Echizen.”

Ah, so this was the school's top regular student. The ranks didn't matter immensely to him, but the distance between himself and Atobe irked him slightly. He heard the slightest of sneers in the other's voice, and fixed him with the smallest of glares and a smile at the same time. “Ah, the Knight of Arms is also the top student? Must be difficult. Atobe’s work takes up most of my time - not much time for study.”

So....it was a pissing match already. Sanada wasn’t going to back down. He returned that glare full force and stated in a very clear, very harsh voice. “Tarundoru.” Because it was weak, to have such poor time management. Here he was, captain of two sports teams, one of which was internationally ranked. He also had patrols every evening. Yet he still managed to stay at the top of his class. King Atobe had gotten a weak Knight. “You need to manage your time better.” He added to the reprimand.

Ryoma frowned as he tapped the overfilled briefcase with a finger. Atobe required full reports on every student in the school, updated weekly, and this Knight still had the nerve to "Tarundoru" him? Plus all the side work - motorbike rides down to the town to fetch supplies, keeping the offices in perfect order, and the rumors of a rising anti-king gang - there was too much going on on-campus for study. “Hmm, perhaps you’re right. My work would be lessened if I didn’t have to clean up after the D.C.”

Oh....so that’s how they were going to play this. Sanada wasn’t usually one for childish games, but there was just something about this guy...Something that rubbed him just the wrong way...Not the wrong way that a certain former Prince did....but still. Besides, the patrol was going slowly and this was interesting in it’s own way. And he was supposed to be getting to know his fellow knights a bit better. How better than to engage in battle even if ti was a battle he was poorly suited for...a battle using words.

“Your work would be lessened if your boss got off his high and mighty throne and did things himself like my boss does. Instead of expecting you to do it all.” It was what he wanted to say however, in a battle between warriors, unrelated people need not be brought in. Instead, Sanada just crossed his arms and pointed out rather succinctly. “It would be even worse without us.” He knew it to be true too. There were just too many high profile and valuable people at this school. Without the D.C. it would be overrun with photo hounds wanting scandals and yakuza types and...even worse...fan girls.

"Haha, is that what you believe? Your precious D.C keeps the appearance up - keeps the campus clean, you think? You know nothing of what's going on underground. Something that would see your precious D.C, and its Prince gone from Sei Dai. You see why I have no time to study?" The arrogant older man knew nothing of the rumours - or that's what they were supposed to be - then.

He honestly hadn’t heard the rumors. People...they didn’t talk around him about anything that might be at all incriminating. It was annoying however that it was from this....brat...that he was hearing this for the first time. He was sure the small twitch just near his eye was enough to prove that he hadn’t heard anything about such rumors yet. But Sanada was far too proud to admit it, that gossip did not reach him. That he was left so far out of the loop. Though he could spin it. “No one dares talk around me because they know I won’t sit and let things continue. I’d actually do something about them right then and there.” As for the removal of Shishido... If Shishido was gone, it was only natural that Sanada replace him. Not because he had any designs of being a Prince. In fact, it was the last thing he wanted. But because he was next in line, wether he liked it or not...Echizen was the same.

“So even the D.A doesn’t know of something occurring under their very noses. Perhaps Atobe made a mistake - or maybe Prince Ryou made a mistake with his choice of knight?” Ryoma smirked, despite the serious matter they were dealing with. "Atobe and his Knight will end this problem before your D.C gets a whiff of it - like the dogs they are."

So....there was something going on. Something that the royalty wasn’t sharing with each other. The great game of politics. He hated it. Was bad at it. But he wasn’t going to let Ryoma win. He refused to let the D.C. have their name thrown into the mud because of some unfounded rumors he hadn’t heard. Which meant...he was going to have to find a way to hear of them. Difficult when people didn’t talk around him. But he was going to find a way. Perhaps a little...physical interrogation of questionable people. “My D.C. will crush this rumor.” Though it wasn’t his D.C. at all. It was Ryou’s... He was serious about it as well. Utterly. And the seriousness was almost frightening. Sanada was definitely a man to have on your side. But then...so was Ryoma...for different reasons. And he could reluctantly admit that, at least to himself. But not enough to ask for any hints. He’d find out on his own...somehow.

Hmm? This man seemed determined to stop whatever was occurring too, but for a different reason no doubt. “We’ll see. I’ll stop this before it starts. Nothing will disturb Atobe-sama’s school.” Ryoma made a note to himself mentally to start investigating once more when he had given the reports to Atobe, the D.C wouldn’t beat the King’s Knight at this one.

He nodded a little. Yet he changed the words. “Ah. Nothing will disturb the peace and order of this school. I won’t allow it.” Because unlike Ryoma who had paperwork to turn in, Sanada could start right now. Some investigation. He was going to be a police officer some day. This was going to be good practice for him. And he could beat the King’s Knight too. Which was a bonus.

“Neither will I. Sorry to cut the pleasant conversation short, but I have to turn these in,” he said, lifting the briefcase slightly. But he wouldn’t let the older man get ahead of his that easily. Ryoma had his Kawasaki Ninja back from the shop and planned to use it - even Sanada couldn’t catch him on his favorite race bike. And riding it on campus was an added bonus, DC be damned. Ryoma nodded once more at the Knight and turned to walk away.

Sanada frowned deeply but nodded back just as curtly. He turned on his heel to start towards a different exit. He wasn’t about to follow Ryoma out. He had an investigation to start. He would hear those rumors...even if he had to beat it out of someone.
