Last week

Last week went by so fast there was hardly time to breathe, let alone post. On Wednesday, Tim and I went to the Suns/Sixers game per my birthday request. It was a lot of fun and the Suns won, which was nice. There was A LOT going on at the game to make it interesting, besides basketball. ;) At one point, Subway sandwiches were parachuting down from the rafters. It was cool, although I did not manage to land one.

On Friday morning, Tim and I went to New Orleans for Menckles wedding on Saturday. I LOVE New Orleans and I was happy to see some significant rehab in the French Quarter compared to two years ago when we were last there. We stayed in a one bedroom, split level flat at the The Olivier House in the quarter. It was very nice and had a great location. While we were waiting for the CA T and J to arrive in the evening, we had a nice lunch at Angeli on Decatur and then we wandered around so I could snap some pictures. T and J arrived around 8ish and we decided to scout out dinner at Bayona. They were kind of snooty there and made us make unnecessary reservations to return in an hour to sit on the patio, when there were clearly tables available. We killed an hour and returned to have a delicious, if slightly slow in the service, meal.

On Saturday, we got up and made our way to Cafe du Monde. There was a line, but it went fast once people realized that to get served you HAVE to sit down at any table, even if it is dirty. Incredibly sugary goodness appeared and happiness was achieved from a zen-like sugar high.

From the cafe, we wandered over to Central Grocery so that I could get my Muffuletta to have for lunch later. We spent the rest of the afternoon getting distracted by shiny objects in the quarter. We stopped into an open house for a condo that was for sale, just to see what it was like. It was neat and I still think it is a good idea to buy something in the quarter, so that we could go there more often and have a place to stay of our own. If only the flights to get there were more reasonable. *sigh*

Around 6pm, we made our way over to Napoleon House to watch Chris and Jeff get married. It was beautiful and sweet, here is my favorite photo:
The wedding ended with something we should have totally done at my wedding, a Second line in the French Quarter. The second line is a march down the street following a jazz band. It's a lot of fun and the tourists were very much intrigued by us. ;) We ended in Jackson Square, singing and cheering as the newlyweds drove away to begin their new life together.

Our flight on Sunday was at 6:30am, so Tim tried to stay up the entire night, but gave up around 2ish I think. We got a couple hours of sleep before we left our hotel at 4:30am to catch our flight home. The rest of the day was spent in recovery. What a great time we had!
