Can you keep a secret?
He had tried. He had tried so very hard. He had kept it inside for so long, had made sure that no one knew, had suffered in silence…and yet now everyone knew. And he was all alone again.
Promise not to tell?
He curled up on his bed, tears streaking down his pale cheeks. He hadn’t meant to tell. He hadn’t meant to. Nobody talked to him any more, barely even acknowledged him. Mir was still furious and disgusted, and made it a point not to hide it whenever he and Joon happened to be in the same room. Seungho smirked, whispered poisonous words through apple red lips, and Joon felt himself die a little more inside with each dig. He and Byunghee had broken up - inevitable, and Joon was positive that Seungho had a hand in it. Byunghee’s words were his own thought, and Joon curled further into himself at the memory, feeling the pain in his chest like a hunter’s knife through his heart.
‘Seungho’s just better, Joon. He’s smart, talented, and a better lover. I tried with you, and it just wasn’t enough. It’s over.’
The tears fell faster, his body shaking with silent sobs. Mir hated him, and now so did Byunghee. He loved them, and was hated in return. It was only to be expected, though. Byunghee was right: Seungho was everything he wasn’t and more. He felt his body grow heavy, his eyelids drooping as if weighted down.
We are standing by a wishing well.
His eyes shut fully, lashes dark against skin as white as snow, and his last thought before sleep claimed him was that he wished he would never wake up.
There was no prince coming to save him.
