Saturday, I had an opportunity to put in a few hours at the tax office, so I did. MyJeff and The Boys 3 dropped me off before going their own way onto Guy Adventures. But first taking the time to give my manager and another dog-loving lady who prepares taxes there a chance to get puppy-kisses and give petting and scruffles. They both made a point of thanking me for bringing The Boys a couple of times. Overall, it was a busy morning with lots of phone time and clients coming in. The manager brought in delicious cantalope and a spicy Spanish Rice with Chicken in a crockpot for all of us. Working Saturdays is okay!
MyJeff picked me up at one, and we dashed to the last couple of hours at the jigsaw puzzle party we'd been invited to. Had fun putting the puzzles together and visiting with the other puzzlers. We were in the dining room of an apartment/elder care facility so plenty of table space. Had to quit at 4 p.m. to make room for folks eating the evening meal.
Sunday was all about Clean-The-House and Prepare-Food for the couple of guests we were expecting to watch the Oscars with us. Well.....we got a lot of cleaning and a fair amount of food prep finished. One guest called around 3:30 or 4 to say they wouldn't be able to make it after all. The second guest (lives over the border in Wisconsin) called after seven to say she'd fallen asleep earlier, but was now about to head our way. She's been battling shingles and is rather worn down, so we suggested she not risk such a late night when she's that tired, and we'll get together on another day.
However, the 3rd guest we'd invited who had turned us down because of another commitment for the evening dropped by mid-afternoon to squeeze in some visiting and catching up with each other, since he's been out of town quite a bit lately. Having a chance to touch base with him for a couple of hours was very pleasant. He and I even managed to converse a little over the noise of the vacuum.
So, the house is cleaner; we have food that will now require very little prep to serve for a few suppers; and MyJeff and I had plenty of space on the couch to watch the Oscars together. I did fade away into drowsing through several presentations until after the Memorial to those who passed on last year and Jennifer Hudson's powerful song. At which point, I accepted the inevitable and went to bed while MyJeff and The Boys 3 stayed the course until the end.
