Today I read the first chapter and some random bits of Understanding White Privilege: Creating Pathways to Authentic Relationships Across Race by Frances E. Kendall. I am at once compelled and soothed by her openness, honesty, experience, and compassion - for White people as well as Black. I think I'm going to learn a lot from this book ( Read more... )

Poor Jon is embroiled in the shipwar over at OG. *sigh* This reminded me of something I'd been thinking about when it comes to Martha - the different comparisons which the White fangirls make, and the Fangirls Of Colour make. I cottoned on to one of the reasons I got, erm, a little over-excited in the recent Unpleasantness. I have a huge hot button when it comes to misquoting - whether it's misquoting RTD, the show, and most especially, myself.
