Lemme start with some good news. Tolerance wins by a head and shoulders: study shows that "Australians are overwhelmingly accepting of Muslim women who wear a scarf or hijab". (I think this refers to a chapter in the new book Beyond the Hijab Debate: New Conversations on Gender, Race and Religion.)

Millions allocated to protect pupils from race-hate attacks: "Jewish and Muslim schools have received the bulk of a $5 million package to bolster security amid concerns about racially motivated attacks."

Australia has worst indigenous health, with "a higher infant mortality rate and a lower life expectancy than those in New Zealand, Canada and the US." (The full report from the International Group for Indigenous Health Measurement is available online.)

Infant iron levels worse than in Zimbabwe: "More than half the Aboriginal children under five in a large region of the Northern Territory are anaemic." In two years, the number of kids not getting enough iron in their diets has trebled, despite the Intervention. Perhaps this has something to do with the overpriced and/or rotten food being sold to Indigenous people in remote stores.

Indigenous Australians are 10 times more likely to develop kidney failure; a NSW study shows this is not due to genetic or childhood factors, but factors in later life, such as obesity and high blood pressure.
