[The video feed starts with a clatter and exclamation of alarm and pain; Kisame's Hitomi tumbles to the ground, propped up to show a very surprised Kisame slammed to the ground with an angry male goat standing over him, tossing its head and flaring its nostrils in challenge. He grunts and moves to get up; this time, it's a doe that charges into view of the screen, headbutting Kisame in the shoulder and sending him sprawling again. Val can be seen in the corner of the screen, doing something with her Materia and glove; a very young Itachi soon obscures any view of her, though, chasing after the goats with his arms outstretched.]
Wait! Come back!
[Kisame groans in protest and sits up, this time ready to catch his opponent by the forelegs; he topples again, though this time he's able to make a game effort to try and wrestle the buck to the ground so he can immobilize him without hurting him. He isn't looking at Itachi, but the words are still definitely directed towards him anyway.]
Wrong one, Itachi-san.... Just wait until we get home. I'll show you the right way to milk her.
But Val said we could milk the goat. Are we only able to milk female goats, then?
Only females make milk, so you shoul--let go, dammit.
[Kisame looks a little flustered at the question, though it soon is pushed aside by annoyance as the buck bites his armwarmer; he lets go of one leg to clout him on the side of the snout to make him release it, only to get his shoulder stomped on for his trouble. He swears, loudly, and turns his head at the sound of hooves. In the background, Val can be seen lifting one hand towards the doe as she charges for Kisame; she wheels around to kick at him with her hind hooves--and lets out a loud bleat of distress as she freezes from the neck down. Val's obviously trying not to laugh at the whole predicament.]
I told you we should have tied them. Itachi, do you still have the rope?
[In the meantime, Kisame pauses in his efforts to subdue his wrestling opponent to gape at the goat now frozen to his shoulder, and gets smacked upside the head by a hoof; he swears again and gives the buck an irritable punch to the chest before grabbing his leg again, trying unsuccessfully to shake the frozen doe off.]
I would have tied them up just fine, if they hadn't gotten agitated. I think I'm stuck, by the way.
.....Is that my fault? I'm sorry I've caused problems for this mission after your allowed me to join you. [Itachi sounds surprisingly abashed--at his age, it's rather adorable, really.]
No, no, it's fine--they probably would have done it sooner or later, anyway. Now at least we don't need to waste any more time making them come to us. [Probably later rather than sooner, if Itachi hadn't mistakenly tried to give the one on top of him a surprise handjob, but.... well, he far prefers bruises to an upset or unhappy Itachi, anyway. No big deal.]
[Valeria softens quite visibly as she turns her eyes to Itachi. He really is quite cute at this age -- adorable even -- and the look on his face when he poses his question and issues his apology makes her heart wrench in her chest.]
He's right, Itachi. It isn't your fault. This -- [She gestures to the doe frozen to Kisame with a smile and wrinkles her nose.] -- is my fault. I made a mistake. Not a life-threatening one, but a mistake nonetheless. A good shinobi learns from the mistakes of others as well as their own. If you take nothing else from today's mission, you take that, and you'll see and learn more the more missions you go on with us. [Glancing in Kisame's direction, she grins.] Right, Kisame?
[Kisame offers a crooked grin at both of them in return, drawing one leg up to drive a knee into the stomach of the buck standing over him. He bleats again, louder than before as the wind is knocked out of him, and pauses in his struggles to catch his breath. Kisame tries to pull his shoulder away again; all he succeeds in doing is dragging the frozen doe an inch or two along with him.]
Right. A little help, here?
Here it is. [Itachi seems to be satisfied by the others' reassurances; he pulls a coil of rope out of the holster strapped to his leg, offering it to Kisame. Kisame accepts it with a word of thanks, though he hisses as the buck decides to take the opportunity to stomp on him again with his freed hoof, renewing his struggles to escape.]
Dammit, you'd better hold still before I decide to just break that leg of yours....
[The dark-haired woman, whose expression fell abruptly upon observing Kisame pitifully drag the frozen doe an inch or two, is now making a brave attempt to keep herself from bursting out laughing. She shouldn't. It is her fault Kisame has a partial goatsicle stuck to his shoulder, but there's something about the situation that just tickles her.]
Kisame, give me the g -- on second thought, can't you genjtusu it or something? It would make tieing it easier.
There's something over there....
[Itachi is distracted by hearing some rather faint rustling, scratching noises in the background; he vanishes off-screen to go investigate them, willing to leave the adults to their work. Kisame offers a mock-scowl at Valeria's obvious amusement, huffing at her in exaggerated exasperation.]
Itachi's way better at genjutsus than I am; I'm better at dispeling than creating. [What the hell kind of illusion would you present to a goat, anyway?] But I guess we wouldn't need one that was too fancy for this--I would need my hands, though.
I think I can handle a goat, Kisame.
[And with that, Valeria steps forward to take the buck off Kisame's hands. She trusts Itachi not to wander far; she trusts the goat to be mindful of her experience with them, too, which results in the introduction of hooves to her stomach and a very loud utterance in Gaian perhaps best left untranslated as the Turk goes sailing, albeit briefly, through the air. Suffice to say there is nothing at all graceful about her landing or kind about the look upon her face as she stares up at the blue sky, gasping slightly from the impact.]
He's a strong one, isn't he? Ugh, and you're a heavy one.... You okay?
[The first and last comments are directed towards Valeria, mingled amusement and concern and all, while the second is an irritated grumble to the goatsicle attached to him; Kisame tries to get up, grunting in annoyance as he lists heavily to the side; it's pretty well impossible to straighten up, with the doe still stuck to his shoulder. He gives up trying soon enough, and instead braces himself against the ground with one hand, and pulls the sword off his back with the other, now that he finally isn't lying on it. He swings a still-wrapped Samehada in a pointedly gentle arc; it catches the buck against his side, sweeping his legs right out from under him as he starts to flee. The position is obviously awkward as all hell, but it at least affords him a fair bit of reach.]
Never better.
[She breathes, pushing herself up into a sitting position just long enough to give her assailant a nasty look before she moves to stand. Rather than give the buck the opportunity recover from the most recent blow (or herself, for that matter), she lunges at the goat and performs a full body tackle, pinning the poor creature beneath her body weight with something of a vengeance.]
Try now.
Coming, coming.... It'll be a minute.
[It does take a minute or two, with the goatsicle protesting loudly as she's dragged along with him, and the buck pinned beneath Valeria flailing unhappily at being pinned, but Kisame manages to work his way over to them. That done, he doesn't waste much time tying the thing up, though he does pause at the sound of something thrashing through a bank of bushes offscreen. The cause is obvious soon enough--a wild chicken bursts into sight, cawing in terror and bolting in a flurry of violent flapping. Itachi runs after it, arms outstretched and ponytail flying, and puts on a burst of speed as he pounces. He goes skidding forward on his stomach, but the chicken is grabbed before it can take off. He's a bit scuffed up and in disarray, breathing hard but smiling proudly as he holds the panicking bird up for inspection.]
Look! Can we take it, too?
[It's difficult for Valeria to maintain a proper scowl when Itachi puts on such a good show and presents them with a smile bright as the sun and right as rain. Her expression relaxes as she releases the now tied buck and... tilts her head and quirks a brow at the creature held captive by Itachi.]
Is that a
Cokatolis?
Alright, good job!
[It sure looks like one... not that Itachi or Kisame appear to know what in the world a Cokatolis is, if the looks they're giving her are any indication. She pauses, then nods.]
We can take it, Itachi. We should probably tie it, too.
[A smile appears upon Valeria's face as she glances in the direction from whence Itachi came.]
But you know, where there's one Cokatolis, there's usually a couple more......
[Kisame's grin at Itachi's hard work turns a little wry, though his confusion hasn't really faded; he rolls his eyes up towards the heavens in a classic "Why me?" expression, before tossing the length of rope at Valeria--obviously, it's her turn to tie the thing up. Itachi tilts his head at her, confused but still pleased.]
What's a Cokatolis?
So now we're chasing chickens, huh....? We might as well get a rooster too, if you're going that far. But me--I've got to see about getting this thing off before I can do any running around. She'll be lucky if she doesn't get hypothermia from this or something....
[That said, Kisame shifts positions, awkwardly twisting to try and shove the frozen doe hard enough to crack her loose. It's more an exercise in futility than anything else, but hey, at least he's trying....]
A Cokatolis --
[Valeria puts the now restrained chicken down a few feet from the buck as she approaches Kisame, eying the frozen goat's hooves warily.]
Is that, I guess. A chicken. Or type of chicken r -- Kisame, will you hold still already?
[The bleat she receives in reply earns the doe a flat expression.]
You, too, or you're dinner.
Yeah, yeah.... You know, weren't you the one telling me that we needed to try and not hurt these things while getting them home?
[Teasing aside, he stills obligingly for Valeria, turning a bit and presenting his back to the Hitomi so she can reach the goatsicle more easily.]
Yes.
[The smile is audible through her tone alone. Although she is not behind Kisame, it is difficult from the Hitomi's present angle to see exactly what it is she's doing to his shoulder and the goatsicle; the latter vibrates occasionally.]
And I meant it. We may need to thaw her out before... we... ! Almost got it!
[Kisame only offers a quiet, faintly annoyed growl of effort, hauling back and using his own considerable weight and strength to help hurry along the separation. All too suddenly, there's the sharp snap of breaking ice, and Kisame lurches as he tears free. He staggers back several steps, unbalanced and unable to regain his footing, letting out a rather undignified yelp of protest as he falls. His figure quickly blots out any other view as it looms larger, and he lands butt-first, weight crashing down squarely on the Hitomi--it breaks with a satisfying crunch, ending the broadcast.]
((OOC: Anyone who would recognize the landscape would realize that the three are on the mainland--somewhere in Earth Country, to be precise.
Incidentally, they'll be bringing back the two goats, a rooster, and three hens. The goats are Shi-kun and Misa-chan, the rooster is Fuu, and the hens are Baba, Saki, and Kiko--names courtesy of Chibitachi. All of these guys are crowded onto a boat with them for the return trip, and not very happy about it.
Blue = Kisame, Red = Itachi, and Purple = Valeria.))
