The previous was said to say this-- At least 85% of the population on the United States (app.300,000,000) can trace back into their ancestry and find that they were disadvantaged and /or enslaved.(whatever term was used)
The question is not what was and who was wronged by whom, when. The question is whether you let a past of subjugation rule your perception now. Do you say "'somewhere' in the past someone did a wrong to someone related to me, so someone now has to make up for that wrong, by giving me what I want and don't have". Or do you say "I am what I make of myself."
If your parent was a business owner, who gives up his business and goes to a poor country and digs wells. Are you the decedent, a business owner or a well digger or neither? Are you responsible for what your parent did or did not do?
This is one part of the question before us all. Who owes who what and why, Or are we our own Masters now? Do we try to force an unearned guilt on a segment of society so we can rest on our butts or do we grow up and take responsibility for our own actions or lack thereof?
No person in the United States has been owned by any other person since the War between the States.
Wiki..
From 1654 until 1865, slavery for life was legal within the boundaries of much of the present
United States.
[3] Most slaves were black and were held by whites, although some Native Americans and free blacks also held slaves; there were a small number of white slaves as well.
Slavery in over and done with--we can not punish present day citizens for past wrongs of dead people.
For 134 years slavery has been abolished in the U.S.A. No one living, citizen raised here, can remember being a slave. Prejudice is another matter.
2 a (1): preconceived judgment or opinion (2): an adverse opinion or leaning formed without just grounds or before sufficient knowledge b: an instance of such judgment or opinion c: an irrational attitude of hostility directed against an individual, a group, a race, or their supposed characteristics
If is a fact, you can not force a person to share your opinion.
But desegregation, along with a few laws forbidding discrimination in the work place but mostly personal interaction, have changed the conception of most people.
There has been a leveled playing field. No new laws or special privileges need be introduced hence-forth.
We are all humans and we are all in it together! Put the past behind you, learn from it and move on.
What is entitlement- people who have paid into a system with the understanding that at a point in the future they will get it back, are indeed entitled to the money.
People who have never put any money or work into anything are not enititled to any money.
It is time for every citizen in this country to stand up to our government and tell them that they are supposed to work for all of us. We do not wish to be enslaved ever again. Not to a man, (king, president, sheik) not to a governing 'elite'. We don't need government to rule our every move, thought, and attempt to better ourselves. We are adults, we can think, work, and take care of ourselves. Make the laws governing Usury, truth in lending, and advertising. Make laws to regulate the Health Insurance Companies forbidding profiteering. Let the states alone as much as possible.Leave our private lives. alone. Let private enterprise find its own level. Do not tell us who we should support, we should support ourselves and our families. The purpose of our government is to protect us from foreign invasion, make laws to protect private citizens from criminals and protect our freedoms!
The American people are forgiving and giving. Stop telling us who we should give to. Stop taking our taxes and giving it to whom you think we should support. Everyone should support what they themselves believe in.
