A strep throat test takes 3 seconds - they swab the back of your throat with a q-tip and have the results in the morning generally. My parents didn't believe me when I thought I had Strep Throat when i was 15, which I got from my then girlfriend who was, in fact, diagnosed as such, and it progressed into scarlet fever, which looks like chicken pox.

I wish I could remember which pain medicine it was, but i remember taking Tylenol, Ibuprofen, and Aleve and one worked well and the other two didn't do shit. It may have been Aleve.

sorry you're feeling bad. i once had a burned esophagus from taking an antibiotic that caused horrid acid reflux, and it was absolute torture to swallow even water. you never forget what it feels like to have that swallow of barbed wire progress slowly down every inch of your esophagus. i hope you don't have that, because nothing helped it get better faster. i hope by now it's determined what you have. i don't like taking antibiotics anymore.
