flu

This week the flu struck me hard. We had such a nice weekend, going to the Dutch Cake Event on Saturday and the local swimming pool on Sunday. Does that mean I should blame myself for exposing my body to two instances where the flu could be caught? Our Dutch class on Monday was fine, but I was feeling a bit tired Monday night. Tuesday night we had a couple of Mike's colleagues over for tea and I felt worse and worse. Wednesday the fever hit. It didn't leave until Friday afternoon. Today I convinced Mike to go to Nijmegen to hang out with our friends who live there and attend a flickr meet-up. He was so torn- didn't want to leave me here alone while I'm still so ill, but I know he needs to get out and see things. I am sad that he is going on a business trip on Monday until Wednesday night and am not looking forward to the couple days alone. It is quite lonely here when you know so few people and you don't have a job to keep you busy. I feel like it would be great to have someone over to visit but I'm not wanting to spread this flu, either. So Lacey will keep me company (I keep thanking God that I have her!) and I'll try to recover by the time he returns from his trip. And we have tomorrow to spend time together... although he has to return some things to IKEA and get other things and that will be something I can't go with him for.

I'll try to get caught up on Lacey's blog over the next several days. And I'll try to make sure I'm caught up on emailing friends. :)
