Lacey's taken over my creativeness

Since I've been posting on Lacey's blog:

It has been tough to update this one too. But I'm going to try, because there are things I'd like to say that Lacey couldn't care less about. For example, we went over to Mike's colleague's house on Wed night this week and had a wonderful home cooked traditional Dutch meal. It was cabbage (I think actually kale) cooked with mashed potatoes and bacon and served alongside a smoked sausage. Mmmmmm it was quite good, even though I haven't had bacon in like... forever. Mike has an aversion to bacon and all things pork so we just don't eat it. I dont even order it at restaurants. Some might say this is odd- I mean- I like it fine so why not order it up when we're out and he doesn't have to eat it? I've always felt that eating out with your spouse is not that kind of opportunity. Rather, it is the sort of thing where you have the chance to have TWO dinners instead of one. Therefore, no matter what he orders and what I order we are allowed to sample each other's dishes at will. The only time this rule does not apply is when I am starving and he orders something I dont like. Then he can have a little taste of mine, but not too much.

So yes, bacon. It is a good thing! The apple tart for dessert was fabulous! The conversation was delightful. This couple has a one year old baby who is absolutely adorable, but of course a bit shy with us. I think because she is Romanian and he is Dutch, the baby already is learning 2 languages and English is a far distant priority. We don't really know enough Dutch yet to make a baby more comfortable, but I played peek-a-boo with him and he warmed up a little to me. What a fabulous evening! I'm really excited about these new friends and hope that we get to see them again very soon.

Oh and one more thing: I've always hated pork chops. They are like trying to eat leather.
