February Recs Challenge, Day 15: HP Fic

Feb 15, 2008 22:15

OMG!!! *flails* The very sneaky snegurochka_lee recently requested a gift ficlet for me with the prompts Bill/Charlie and spanking. *cough* Think she has a handle on my kinks? ;-) And then celandineb wrote it for me: Moon-struck Madness (rated adult, obviously, though the rating is more for theme than content). It features wolfy!Bill and up for anything!Charlie, as well as some delicious hints at what may have happened between them in the past and what's definitely going to happen in the future. Nnngh.

Thank you so much for the gifty, Lee! *snogs you senseless*

Annnnd, here's today's official rec, which is...not porn. Heh.

Sixteen ways to tell the Weasley twins apart by kaydeefalls
Characters: Fred, George
Rating: None given (I'd say PG?)
Warnings: None
Summary: a (mostly) gen fic featuring, unsurprisingly, Fred and George Weasley

My Comments:
I love this little fic because the author does something that I don't really think JKR manages (or really even tries) to do in canon, which is to give each of the Weasley twins his own distinct personality. These twins are still very much FrednGeorge, but they're also two separate boys with their own strengths and ways of looking at the world.

You can't really write about the twins without humor, so there's plenty of that here -- but there are also parts of this fic that are quite touching, and the ending always makes my heart clench a little (even more so after Deathly Hallows).

Excerpt:
9. For years, they celebrate their birthday (April Fool's Day, fittingly enough) by turning Hogwarts upside down and inside out and all sorts of fantastic things like that. But the year they give up the Marauder's Map, Fred suggests they take the day off and get some hard-earned rest. Which makes the birthday even better, really, because the entire school is on edge and thoroughly paranoid, waiting with bated breath for the chaos to begin, and all those nervous, wary faces make up the best sort of birthday present a pair of pranksters could ever hope to receive.

On April 2nd, of course, all hell breaks loose.

If you enjoy, please leave the author some feedback!
