One of my very favorite "imperfect sex" scenes is in The Beloved by the dearly missed Laura Mason.

It's a missing scene from The Charioteer. If you haven't read The Charioteer, (But really, everyone should!) you need to know that it's set during WWII, that Laurie's leg was severely damagaed, that he has been released from the military hospital long enough to attend his mother's wedding, and that one of the two men he loves has come to the wedding as well. This is their first time having sex.

Oh, yes, I remember that fic! I reread it this morning and then scrolled to the bottom, where I realized I'd left a comment about five years ago mentioning, among other things, how much I appreciated the imperfection of the sex. Heh. Guess I haven't changed much in five years.
