The Summer Al Tried to Live by asnowyowl (Albus Severus/Scorpius, NC-17, non-magical AU)
I'd recommend this one to anybody, even if you're not familiar with HP -- it reads like original gay fiction. And what lovely fiction it is. asnowyowl writes sensitively and believably about Albus's experiences of first love, teenage sexual fumblings, and coming out to his family and friends. And she surrounds him with a yummy out-and-proud Scorpius and a rich cast of background characters. Very satisfying read.
Two Steps Back by such_heights (Remus/Sirius, PG)
Short, lovely "lie low at Lupin's" fic that's both bittersweet and hopeful. *hugs Sirius tightly*
Flowers by vanseedee (George/Lee, PG-ish?)
The author wrote this little ficlet for my request, and it's sweet and funny and boyish. :-)
QAF FIC
Reunion by foreverbm (Emmett/Drew, PG)
After all the whining I did the other day about the lack of non-B/J fic in the QaF fandom, foreverbm wrote this gorgeous little ficlet for me about Emmett and Drew meeting up again post-series. It's so sweet -- just what I'd like to see for these two. ♥
ST FIC
A Walking Sleep by armistice (McCoy/Chekov, NC-17, major consent issues)
This is based on a kink meme prompt that's been filled several times in several incarnations -- basically "aliens made them do it," with Chekov losing his virginity in a way that isn't his choice. It's written from Chekov's POV and it's absolutely heartbreaking, not only for Chekov himself but also (to a lesser extent) for Bones, who is nearly as reluctant a participant. If there's any bright spot in this it's Jim, who really lives up to his potential as a captain and a friend. But I still felt gutted by the end. Amazing writing.
Taking the slower path (we'll get there in the end) by black_eyedgirl (mostly gen with pre-Kirk/Spock, some Spock/Uhura, PG-13)
I adored this fic -- and this Jim Kirk -- to a ridiculous degree. Despite the pairings, I read this very much as gen. It's about Jim growing into his role as captain and into his friendships with the rest of the crew. Funny and touching, and the ending is perfection.
Little Shadow by hollycomb (Sulu/Chekov, NC-17)
Why don't I just go ahead and rec everything hollycomb's ever written? Seriously, though, this is too amazing not to rec. It starts with 14-year-old Chekov meeting Sulu, his first roommate at the Academy. Watching Chekov as he grows up and deals with the heartbreak of having a massive crush on Sulu is rather agonizing at times, but the journey is so worth it.
Even If by florahart (Kirk/McCoy, PG-ish)
I enjoy a yelling, exasperated, hypo-wielding Bones as much as the next fangirl, but sometimes writers tend to turn him into a caricature of himself. As I told Flora in my comment, he's captured very differently here: as a calm, matter-of-fact, steady presence who supports and anchors Jim without making a big deal about it. The friendship and love here are what continues to draw me into this pairing.
The Places We Began by madeyemax (Scotty/Chekov, NC-17)
Oh, what a sweet pairing these two are. Gah. This fic is the culmination of a three-part series, in which a party may or may not be held, Scotty and Chekov may or may not have been destined to be together, and Chekov may or may not lose the last remaining shred of his virginity. Finally. ;-)
You all along who had a hold of my heart by leftarrow (Kirk/McCoy, NC-17)
After reading a metric ton of schmoopy Kirk/McCoy fics over the past few days, this fic was like a sharp gulp of fresh air. The relationship between Jim and Bones is a little rough around the edges, a little uncertain and unsettled, and I love that so many things go unspoken. Note that this is a sequel to another fic, which can be found here. (You could probably read this one without reading the first one, but the other one is good too. *g*)
All your history's like fire from a busted gun by eonism (Kirk/McCoy, NC-17, rimming)
The summary says it all, really: This is the story of five times that it wasn't about sex, and one time that they finally get it right. Lovely progression of their relationship, and very hot, intimate sex.
Lead Me Not Into Temptation by wook77 (Kirk/McCoy, NC-17, majorly underage sex [Jim is 13], brief spanking)
Oh, this is so hot and wrong and did I mention hot? Bones is absolutely no match for this bratty, seductive Jim (and he has no idea just how screwed up -- or young! -- the poor kid is). Hot like burning.
Where My Secrets Echo by azephirin (McCoy/OFC, NC-17, light D/S, spanking)
No, no, don't run away because of the pairing! Stay for the spanking! This is exquisitely written erotica. I tend to prefer Bones a little bit toppy/dominant, but mmm, watching a strong, beautiful fellow doctor wrap him around her little finger is pretty darn hot. Who knew Bones needed so badly to be spanked?
Chin Up, Cheer Up by breakthecitysky (Kirk/McCoy, PG)
Just some good old-fashioned 5+1 fic -- specifically, five times Jim wanted to tell Bones he loved him and one time he actually did. This is a prompt that's kinda crying out for sap, but the author doesn't go there; it's sweet, but real enough not to seem saccharine. It left me smiling. :-)
