Stop the world from making sense

After the three of us had met up with the other members of the team, we headed back to the base with our hostile in tow. I can't even begin to explain how relieved I was that we had managed to get a bag and tag in. Just the thought of coming back empty handed was enough to cause my stomach to churn. I was better than that, we all were, and fortunately things decided to take a turn for the better instead of for the worst. And from the look on everyone else's faces, I wasn't the only one to be feeling this way.

As soon as we were cleared and inside the Initiative, I pulled my ski mask off and tucked it under my arm. It was good to be able to really breathe again and not have a thick layer of wool keeping any air away from my skin. The others seemed to follow suit, and I could hear the light sighs of relief that followed. Apparently I wasn't the only one who hated wearing the damn things. Not that anyone could blame us. The government really needed to look into getting us ones that could breathe. Maybe something in cotton.

The sound of our boots echoed down the hall, and before anyone could have a chance to speak, we were in the heart of the Initiative. It only took a few seconds before some coats came up and took the vamp away for confinement. "Like a well oiled machine," I thought to myself as I handed my tranq gun off to another solider. It was rather disappointing that Professor Walsh wasn't waiting for our return, but she is a busy woman after all. If she wasn't in the lab working on her latest project, she was probably keeping up appearances elsewhere. It wasn't easy living this double life. Speaking of which...

"Anyone have plans after this?"

I sighed as I unzipped my vest and handed off to another solider. I still had a social to plan since classes were just around the corner. "Well as soon as I fill out the reports, I need to get back to the Gamma Ep house and start working out the details for the kick off party," I replied as I tugged the rubber band from my hair and shook the strands loose. I watched as her eyes widened at the sound of filling out reports. Not exactly my favorite thing to do either. "But I think we're done here, so you're free to go Soldier...as long as Agent Finn approves of course." I flashed a playful smile as I pulled the rest of my gear off and slipped back into my sweatshirt.

"You're free do go solider."

I pulled my hair back up and shoved it into a loose bun. Nicole seemed like she was relieved to have the rest of the night off, and from the gaze Forrest had planted on her, he looked pretty relieved as well. "Hey Gates, stare any harder and your eyes might fall outta your head." I laughed as he muttered something about 'chicks' under his breath. He was too easy to mess with...which of course meant more fun for me.

"So you're a Gamma Ep? I'm a Sigma Phi...Guess we'll be working on the kickoff together."

I held back a smile as I grabbed the last of my things. I had almost forgotten that I had read that in his file. It was nice to be able to be social with someone who already knew your secrets...well most of them anyway. "Yeah, I'm the Social Chair...and I guess it's my lucky day because I was meaning to figure out which brother I needed to talk to." I flashed a grin and then waved to the others as they took their leave. "So whenever you've got some free time to plan, let me know."
