Once we were suited up and ready to roll, we started to make our way down the hall. Our best bet was to come out just outside of the area where the attack had been made, and hope that the hostile was coming back and looking for more. And since vamps were pretty predictable, it wasn't that far off of a possibility. Unless of course it wasn't hungry, but I'm sure there would be more than a few to go around. Maybe even give us a little run for our money if they had any skill at all, but even that was probably a fat chance. I mean why was it that most of the vamps around here seemed like brainless lackeys? I guess the strong prey on the weak, but why the stupid? Oh well.
We were just about to turn the corner when I heard an additional set of footsteps behind us. I stopped, nearly causing Forrest to crash into me, and I really didn't need to give him an excuse to put his hands on me. I stepped out of his way and turned to look behind the group. Sure enough, there was a girl following silently behind us. They must have assigned her to the team last minute for her not to have suited up with us, and from her silence, I was guessing that she was new. But hey, as long as she's good, I don't have any arguments. Forrest however, well the look on his face once it changed from 'yum,' to 'oh god another chick'... well, hopefully there wouldn't be any issues.
Since it didn't look like I was going to be the only female on the squad, I figured I'd be the first to welcome her before any of the boys got their drool on her vest. Really, you think that agents at this level could keep their hormones in check. I parted between Forrest and Graham and closed the gap between us. She looked really young, but that didn't mean anything. I was probably even younger that she was when I got pulled in, and look at me now. But it did come with a lot of hard work and dedication, something I hoped that she would be able to show us.
Extending my hand, and giving her a soft smile, I decided to be the first to make the introductions. "Hi, I'm Agent Hayes, you with us?" She nodded and I went ahead and decided to finish the introductions since the boys seemed rather tongue-tied. And here I thought that I had made an impression. I nodded towards Graham and then to Forrest. "That's Agent Miller, and next to him is Agent Gates." I gave each of them a second to mumbled their hellos before moving on. "And that," I said motioning to Riley, "is Agent Finn, our squad leader." I figured making all the introductions formal seemed like the best thing to do considering her ranking was fairly low. Don't want to give any of the new people the wrong impressions. "What's your name soldier?"
