Work is... interesting. The first day was pretty much paper work, and learning about company policies. Lots and lots of company policies that high-school students are not eligible for. Like, 401K plans and stuff. Ugh, we sat through a couple hours of Tammy Ford explaining all of this stuff that we don't get, like, parking incentives and such. We made it though.
Today was better and worse. Better in that we started learning the programs and stuff. That was good. It was kind of fun trying to beat everyone else to finish your assignment. We took in a lot today. I can almost run through it perfectly, but, sometimes I forget to verify the information, and that is going to catch up with me when we get our evaluations. But, it will be okay.
Today was worse in that the ticket system started. Tickets don't really hurt your chances of employment, they are just there to keep you in line. You can get tickets for three things. If you don't lock your computer when you get up to take a break, go to lunch, etc, you will get a ticket. If the trainer catches you ahead of her twice, you will get a ticket. The first time, she gives you a warning, and the second time you will get a 'speeding' ticket. And the other thing that you can get a ticket for, is not signing off your phone. We haven't learned how to use the phones yet, so, that doesn't apply right now. The bad thing about tickets is that if you get one, you have to participate in a talent show at the end of training. Yeah. I was the FIRST one to get a ticket today, but, definitely not the last. Right after we learned about the tickets, I got up and went to the restroom and didn't lock my computer. After I broke the ice, five people followed me, and one girl got two tickets today for the same thing. I will have lots of friends in the talent show.
I am having fun at work. I have made some new friends. But, I really can't wait to get out on the floor. That will be great. I want to be answering the phones. I want to be talking to people, and actually doing my job. That will happen soon enough though.
We already know our schedules. I will be working from 1 pm to 10 pm Thursday through Monday. I have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off all summer. So, please don't call me to do anything if it isn't either before 1, after 10, or on a Tuesday or Wednesday. It will just make me sad. :(
HOWEVER, I don't start my schedule for two weeks. So, this weekend, I will be in Florala. I need things to do and places to go. You people need to start calling. We need to make plans. I need people to spend the night with me up in Florala. I don't want to be by myself. That will be horrible.
Anyway, I need to do some laundry as always.
