The suspense is unbearable
The anticipation almost macabre
Come now, come later, come not at all
I am waiting, patiently waiting, ever waiting

Woke up in the dead of night.
Fumbling in the unlit kitchen for a glass of water.
Looked around the darkened room.
Shadowed, alien, hidden from view.
House did not feel like home.
Never felt more alone.

I've been in a bit of a rut lately
Both personally and professionally
I find myself lacking motivation and creativity
And it weighs heavily on my psyche
I don't know how to dig myself out
But recognizing this funk is the first step to overcoming it

I started a new job a few months ago
And honestly there are days when I feel like I'm drowning.
The work itself was not hard to learn
But the weight of responsibility is heavy.

I haven't seen the light at the end of the tunnel yet
But I know I will get there eventually.

2012 has been the year from hell.
Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.
And the year's not even half over yet!

I don't know if the doomsday predictions are true.
But on days like today, it sure does feel like the world is coming to an end.

People are in constant motion - changing, evolving, maturing - but for the last little while I felt as if I haven't moved at all.
