Hi everybody! I hope everyone is doing well and are starting to enjoy the holiday season. (I will as soon as exam week is over I guess.) But in the meantime, do you know what makes life fun? Having sound effects to real life. "What's that?" you might say? Well, while I was home for thanksgiving, I happened to find these two small little speakers in my basement that are about the combined size as a can of pop. They were part of some small portable "boombox" radio thing that some store gave out many many years ago for being one of the first two hundred customers in the store kind of thing. Anyway, I saw the the speakers could detach and be plugged into any headphone jack...interesting. I could turn myself into a human stereo.
What was I going to do with this? Why, add sound effects to everyday life of course. So, I put some sound effects into my ipod, put the speakers into my sweatshirt pockets, and was on my way. Let me show you an example on how this makes life fun.
I was talking to one of my friends and he happens to have a textbook that he ordered online on his desk. He ordered an international edition because it was cheaper but it's the same thing as the regular version. The only difference is that on the cover, there are chinese captions under the title. Well, another friend of mine comes up, picks up the book, points to the chinese part and asks me, "Hey, can you read this?" I say, "Sure. Numerical methods, an introductory study." Then, he covers up the english part so only the chinese part is showing, "Now can you read this?" I was like, "Yeah. It says Numerical methods, an introductory study." He was like, "Bah! I guess you got me this round." But what makes it fun was that I had my sound effects all ready in my pocket. I let loose with a "loser" sound effect (You know, the kind that goes "wah wah wahhhh") He dropped the cup he was holding and just starting cracking up.
Therefore, adding sound effects to real life is lots of fun. (I didn't even get to the stuff where I used the "Price is Right" noises.) Anyway, I hope all of you are doing great, and have a fantastic day!
