Day 3 of 28...
My countdown until my eye appointment for laser surgery! I am so stoked. And a bit nervous! Has anyone on my friends list ever had Laser Eye Surgery? Or know someone who has?!
So, I wanted to bitch about work today....I think it is pretty shitty when you cannot even go to work, complete a hectic day, leave the building and your desk how you are supposed to...then come to work the next day to know that someone has been STOLEN off your desk.
There is a cleaning crew that we hire (and pay GOOD money) at work. Now, I get that not everyone has a desire to be on a janitorial staff...but stealing is just plain LOW. Long story turned semi-short:
We are supposed to leave our work phones plugged in at our desks unless we are on-call. This way, nobody can use the excuse of forgetting their phones, or losing a charger, etc. This morning, a coworker of mine has discovered that her phone is GONE. I know she plugged it in because hers makes a weird beeeeeep noise (rather than my sing-songish tone). I, mind you, had a NEW calandar on my desk UNOPENED that was also STOLEN.
So, we look up the calls that were made - ironically from 9:18pm until 3:02am last night. Started calling some of the numbers on the phone log that is kept online. Get a hold of someone who starts to freak out that she doesn't want to be in trouble and she wants to give any kind of information that she can.
Found out the guys name who called her - called the cleaning company - filled out a police report. Guy is fired. We come to find out that this guy was on PAROLE for rape and burglary.
What the hell is this world coming to? Why the hell would someone NOT do a simple background check?!?!?!?! To think that any of us could have been at serious risk of something terrible happening. Just makes me sick. What the hell is this world coming to?!
