Hi there, I saw you in add_me, and I have a question about weightlifting. I haven't been able to exercise properly for nearly two months due to a damaged ligaments in my knee, and I've just started going back to the gym again. I wondered if you could suggest the best way to strengthen my knee up using weights? I was fairly inexperienced with weightlifting before the accident and I don't want to do further damage. I have access to a wide variety of weightlifting machines for all muscle groups at my local gym, but wasn't sure which ones to go for to help (and avoid hurting) the knee. Or should I stay away from them altogether!?

Thanks for any advice!

Hi there and welcome! First off, I see that youre going to the gym and so I'm assuming that you already have you doctors or your physican's permission to begin or continue a workout regiment. Also, im assuming that you've already gone through rehabilitation therapy to rebuild your knee ( ... )

Thanks very much, that's very helpful! I'll put your advice into practice in the gym tomorrow.

I'll be seeing my doctor in a few weeks, so I'll ask her whether she thinks the knee needs any treatment, but it seems mostly recovered now except for some residual stiffness and twinges, which I'm hoping the weightlifting will fix!

Thanks again!
