For everything that was wrong with this place, Amber still could say it was a thrilling place to be. She had never been outside of Vermont and, for the past few years of her life, she had been shut up inside the grimy and dark asylum...

The decadence of the nightclub, the touch of sweat-slicked skin and red silk beneath her fingers, the cloyingly sweet smell of cigars in a sloppy kiss...

But this place...she had been told that she was in the future, nearly fifty years and it showed. She never imagined a city could look so magnificent with its high steel-and-glass buildings, although the storm did remind her of the overpowering gray that was everywhere. It was only sheer curiosity that led her away from the hotel - she was not a fighter and didn't dare risk actually walking further than a block away from help. Instead, she darted inside the hotel's garage, itching to take a look at the vehicles parked there.
