Linkara had been following the conversation between Terra and his newly-arrived Master - it was public and therefore fair game, and he wanted to make sure Terra would be okay. Unfortunately, Terra's final reply to his Master made it very clear that he was anything but, and the sounds of the door opening and closing had been impossible to miss. Not long after that, Linkara had grabbed his hat and headed out to find his friend ( ... )

Terra knew it was bad when he wasn't sure if he was wincing at being caught or the throbbing pain in his side. He probably should have known he'd be caught by Linkara, the man had clearly been monitoring his conversation with his Master. The keyblade disappeared from his hand as he turned towards the door where Linkara was standing looking very annoyed.

The expression on Terra's face was a mix of emotions but the main one right now appeared to be guilt, although it was doubtful that it was guilt for being caught so much as guilt over seeing his no-longer-deceased Master. Although, Terra had a feeling it was more like 'his Master from the past who did not yet know just how disappointed he was going to be in his apprentice.'

Terra sighed, "Trying to distract myself."

Terra definitely looked like someone who'd been caught red-handed; knowing his story, however, Linkara figured that guilt might be over something else entirely. That really didn't stop him from being more than just a little bit hacked off at Terra's complete lack of common sense - and, when you came right down to it, self-preservation - right about now. "With what?" he replied, sarcasm in full swing. "Your closet masochistic streak?"

He stopped himself - unfortunately, sarcasm wasn't going to fix anything right now - and shook his head. "Let's at least get you a distraction that's not going to kill you."

Unfortunately, Terra was not in the mood for jokes. He turned away from Linkara, knowing he had a point but not sure how to reply to the question. It wasn't about injuring himself, this was really the only way to get his mind off of his Master.

And yet, even it wasn't working.

Terra was about to walk past and go on a walk. Linkara couldn't protest that could he? But apparently Linkara had come here to do more than just yell at him. "How?"

Terra wasn't fast like Ven or even as agile as Aqua but even he could run. Of course, that was when he was at normal health and strength. Right now he was still nursing several injuries and a broken spirit. Terra made it about as far as the outside and across the street before his injuries started to cause him to slow down. Partly it was his injuries, part of it was his brain yelling at him for doing something so stupid. Apparently there was a part of him that realized this was ridiculous and that COULD make such judgments, Terra was just usually too busy thinking with his own feelings to think logically about things ( ... )

Eraqus was fast when he needed to be, but Terra was fast as well. Fortunately (or rather unfortunately), Eraqus did not have to chase him long...Terra stopped at a bench, clutching one of the wayfinders and still crying. He was obviously still injured.

Eraqus slowed to a stop in front of his apprentice. He had never seen him like this before, and he still felt that desire to erase that pain. None of his students ever deserved to feel like this. But the only way he could think of to bring Terra out of this was to bring him through it, because he still didn't understand.

"Terra..." He took a long, slow breath before proceeding. "Please. I want to understand. However you think I will react, please try to remove it from your thoughts. Just speak...you do deserve to be heard."

He couldn't run any more that was for sure. Terra didn't notice that it was Eraqus that had caught up to him until he heard his voice and saw his feet on the sidewalk. Terra lifted his head to look at him. How many times did he think about him every day? He didn't realize until he'd come back just how much he'd missed his mentor. Where could Terra possibly begin in explaining all of this. What had Aqua already told him to prepare him for this? Had she told the Master anything ( ... )

Eraqus had heard from Aqua just some of it..that Xehanort had told them of his plans to use Ven as the X-blade. How far he had gone with it, he didn't know, but that knowledge was bad enough. "Aqua has said little, but..."

And then Terra finally went and finished it. So...that was it. In the future, he was dead...at the hands of his old friend, and his student.

He didn't respond for a long time, and barely even moved. Whatever awful things his students would go through in the future, he wouldn't be there to guide them. He wouldn't see all of them gain their mark of mastery. Those thoughts cut at him more than anything else...he couldn't seem to wrap his mind around it all. How did you respond to such knowledge? How could things ever come to this? Why did they have to come to this?

His heart was overwhelmed. The only way he could think to respond was with an almost detached, clinical need to ask for more information. There was still one thing he didn't understand. "...Why did we fight?"

Linkara's wild grab had managed to snag Aqua's sleeve, and she'd stopped while Eraqus had run ahead, chasing Terra. Linkara wasn't sure if this was going to make things better for Terra or worse.

"He needs time to pull himself together," he said, suddenly realizing that he, who'd only known Terra for a few months, was trying to explain things to Aqua, who'd known him for considerably longer than that. He was just batting a thousand here. "He can't do that if we're all crowding around him."

Aqua wasn't sure what the outcome would be either. All she was counting on right now was the fact that maybe - just maybe - she could make things easier. How, she hadn't quite figured out yet, but she knew for certain that she couldn't do it here and for a moment a look of irritation crossed her face.

"I know that," she answered, after taking a moment to try and get her emotions in control again. "But I'm not sure he's going to get that time."

Linkara caught that look, brief as it was. If he hadn't known he was out of his league by now, that certainly would have clinched it. Still, he'd never been in the habit of quitting, especially not when he was in over his head.

"I was kind of hoping to grab you both," Linkara pointed out flatly. "It didn't exactly work."

Aqua wasn't sure it really would have worked. The story would have had to come out sooner or later, especially with it already having been fairly obvious that there was something that was worrying them. Especially now that she'd mentioned the χ-blade.

"I should go," she commented after a moment. "Terra's not the only one who has things Master Eraqus should hear."
