The expression on Terra's face was a mix of emotions but the main one right now appeared to be guilt, although it was doubtful that it was guilt for being caught so much as guilt over seeing his no-longer-deceased Master. Although, Terra had a feeling it was more like 'his Master from the past who did not yet know just how disappointed he was going to be in his apprentice.'
Terra sighed, "Trying to distract myself."

He stopped himself - unfortunately, sarcasm wasn't going to fix anything right now - and shook his head. "Let's at least get you a distraction that's not going to kill you."

And yet, even it wasn't working.
Terra was about to walk past and go on a walk. Linkara couldn't protest that could he? But apparently Linkara had come here to do more than just yell at him. "How?"

Eraqus slowed to a stop in front of his apprentice. He had never seen him like this before, and he still felt that desire to erase that pain. None of his students ever deserved to feel like this. But the only way he could think of to bring Terra out of this was to bring him through it, because he still didn't understand.
"Terra..." He took a long, slow breath before proceeding. "Please. I want to understand. However you think I will react, please try to remove it from your thoughts. Just speak...you do deserve to be heard."

And then Terra finally went and finished it. So...that was it. In the future, he was dead...at the hands of his old friend, and his student.
He didn't respond for a long time, and barely even moved. Whatever awful things his students would go through in the future, he wouldn't be there to guide them. He wouldn't see all of them gain their mark of mastery. Those thoughts cut at him more than anything else...he couldn't seem to wrap his mind around it all. How did you respond to such knowledge? How could things ever come to this? Why did they have to come to this?
His heart was overwhelmed. The only way he could think to respond was with an almost detached, clinical need to ask for more information. There was still one thing he didn't understand. "...Why did we fight?"

"He needs time to pull himself together," he said, suddenly realizing that he, who'd only known Terra for a few months, was trying to explain things to Aqua, who'd known him for considerably longer than that. He was just batting a thousand here. "He can't do that if we're all crowding around him."

"I know that," she answered, after taking a moment to try and get her emotions in control again. "But I'm not sure he's going to get that time."

"I was kind of hoping to grab you both," Linkara pointed out flatly. "It didn't exactly work."

"I should go," she commented after a moment. "Terra's not the only one who has things Master Eraqus should hear."
