Characters: Kadaj and OPEN Time: Around Sunset Location: The BEAN Content: Another new arrival... Format: Prose Warnings: Kadaj is almost cute, until he proves he's actually really crazy...
Yazoo hadn't gone far from the bean, not for long anyway. It stood to reason that he had been brought there when he arrived his brothers would be as well, it would only be a matter of time.
He crunched across the park towards where he felt Kadaj, a small part of his existence clicking back in to alignment like a displaced cog. He stood silent for a moment, watching Kadaj on the ground.
The presence of his brother, closer now, and getting closer, was comforting, in a way. The ShinRa guy had lied, said Mother was in the box, had made him believe, and...and it was nothing. Yazoo being close, here, was a comfort he desperately needed.
He sniffled once, not looking up from his hunched vigil. "She's gone, Brother."
Yazoo frowned, just a bit confused. How could she be gone when she had brought them here? It didn't make sense, not unless...it had never been Mother in the box.
"No, she's not." There was a hint of frustration in his voice, this was so simple.
Of course Yazoo would think that. He hadn't been there when he'd figured it out, when he finally knew what to do with Mother, what she wanted. He remembered it, the knowing, the no longer questioning, all of it. And then...he'd ended up here.
And now he didn't know anymore. "She was here," he stressed, standing, holding the box out to his taller brother. "But now she's not." And then he finally looked around. She brought us here Yazoo had said. Did that mean...
Yazoo almost reverently took the offered box, a thumb smearing through the goo on the outside as he glanced at it. It was what had been Mother back on The Planet, what she'd left there for them to find probably. So she could bring them here.
"Chicago, a city." He replied, still examining what was left of Jenova. "She's here, the Postman would know where she was but none of the humans know where to find him."
Kadaj watched his brother's motions with passive interest, more focused on his words. It wasn't much to go on, but it was a start. It was all they'd ever needed.
"Then we find this Postman guy, and get him to tell us where he's hidden Mother."
"The Jennifer told me, and there are humans talking about it on the device in the box there." He made an idle motion towards the box on the ground, his attention returned to the container in his hands.
He looked toward the box his brother indicated, walking over and snatching it up, and turned it over in his hands before starting to press buttons.
"Is this a phone?" It was sort of like a phone, but not one he'd ever seen. He looked over his shoulder to Yazoo after amusing himself with the phone for a moment or two. "What's a Jennifer?"
"Part human, like Big Brother?" It made a sort of sense. ShinRa liked doing things like that. He tilted his head to the side, still inspecting the phone while he listened to his brother's explanation. "Humans do the strangest things, don't they?"
"No, not like Big Brother. She's not our Sister." Yazoo replied with mild frustration. He hadn't said she was their Sister which meant that she wasn't.
He gave an amused giggle. "I know that, Yazoo. But Big Brother isn't completely human, either." He looked back at his brother over his shoulder. "That's what I meant."
He made a small, interested sound, muttering slightly to himself and he scrolled through the phone device still. "I wonder what she meant by that."
After a moment, he heaved a sigh, turning quickly to face his brother once more. "We have to offer our deal to the Postman." He smiled. "Where can we find him, Yazoo? Did the Jennifer tell you that?"

"Don't cry, Kadaj."

They needed more information anyway, somewhere to begin looking for the Postman. Something to find him with.
"The Postman is looking for something too, if we find it first...we can make him give us Mother."

Yazoo couldn't quite understand why they wouldn't spread out more and give the vampires and fairies more of a challenge.
