"Anyway, these three are Pokemon. They're what else share my world. They help out with just about every part of life. I'm helping a researcher with his study of Pokemon, so I was sent out to catch and document things about them," Red hoped that explained things, "Some time ago, Pokeballs were invented to carry them. Because Saur and Poli are a bit large, and they aren't even the largest ones I've caught..." He looked down, a bit of sadness in his voice, "whatever pulled me here didn't get me with the rest of my team so they got left behind. Questions?"
Now he wondered if this was how Professor Oak felt all the time.

"Yeah, just one. What kind of name is 'Red?' Did your mom like the color or something?" Toph had com across strange things before, mostly because of Aang and the fact that he was the Avatar, but this was the dumbest name she had come across.
"We don't have those kinds of things where I come from. I mean, we've got animals like platypus-bears and flying bat-lemurs, but nothing like those things." She waved her arms towards Red and his Pokemon.

"Most people I've met don't have animals like these guys, way of things I guess. We don't have Earthbenders where I'm from," Red ate some more pizza. To be fair the animals she listed sounded very interesting but that could wait till later. "Moving on. You're in a city called Chicago. If you've never heard of it you're in the same boat as me. There's a fog barrier around the town we can't escape through. Even if we could who knows what's outside of it. All in all this place sucks."
Red is so tactful about bad news.

But it was still ridiculous.
Anyway, Toph brushed the comment aside, instead focusing on what Red said about this 'Chicago' place. "A fog barrier? Pffffffft. Fog doesn't bother me." As long as the ground was still beneath her feet, Toph could get around quite easily. "You're right about this place sucking though. It's almost as bad as Ba Sing Se."

"It's probably not just fog, fog disorients pretty well if you work from smell and sight, but it shouldn't mess with Pika's ears like it did," Red considered, having something like a ground pokemon might give other options... like a tunnel. He could suggest that later.
"So other than seeing through your feet, what else can 'Earthbenders' do," Red did have guesses, but he has long learned you can only guess lucky so many times. It really helps to know answers every so often.

At least, until Red asked an earthbender could do. Toph grinned mischievously. She took one more bite from her pizza, then stood up and cracked her knuckles. With her mouth still mostly full, she answered. "This." There was a statue nearby, and Toph moved as if attacking someone with a form of martial arts, and a ripple went through the concrete. It reached the statue, and it was catapulted a few yards away, landing on it's head. Toph swallowed the pizza and sat back down, satisfied in showing off.
