How she slept that night she wasn't sure. By the grace of God maybe. Perhaps the big guy had some idea of the trials that would face her and had granted her this one last rest before whatever was about to happen. Whatever the case may be, Karrin rose with the dawn. It wasn't a pretty dawn by any means and the air of the city was heavy with the magics still warring over them.

She didn't know what prompted her to do so, but Karrin felt compelled to go out and visit the church. The sword felt heavy next to her side and she kept a protective hand over it as she walked. Perhaps this would be the day they could end all of this and Karrin could go back to normal. However, she knew that wasn't possible...not by a long shot.

The air of the world was stifling, the day no less dangerous than the ones before. Jennifer felt strange in her own skin, having spent so much time in She-Hulks. Instead, she wanted a moment or two to get back into her own life, her own time. It did not change that she had to wear her suit and the loose-fitting jeans everywhere though or just plain out ruin more clothing.

The church was a place where she had avoided for a while, but now it seemed the right place to go. She shrugged in the heavy coat around her shoulders and walked towards it, hands in her pockets. She came to a stop as she saw a familiar figure though standing in front of the doors, a figure she had hoped never to see again.

Clare hated she slept well, this wasn't a night she felt she should sleep well. They were at the edge of everything collapsing in on itself. Everything hung on the outcomes of the next few days. Given that three out of four Chinese Gods were out and playing around town, it wasn't going to be getting any easier ( ... )

Dean didn't sleep well, but his sleeping habits had been screwed for some years now. Just another typical night. The lifting of powers didn't affect him of course. It just meant any enemies would be stronger now.

Awesome.

It was tempting to go god hunting, no love lost on the pagan gods back home that Lucifer shredded after all. But some involved flying, and like hell he was bothering with anything suggesting it. Especially after fighting the phages.

Plus fallen angels were familiar territory for him as he readied his weapons. He had guns and the angel sword from the Impala. If nothing else, it did still work like a typical sword. Cut something and make it bleed. Easy.

Inside St. Mary of the Angels secondcity_npc October 16 2011, 22:48:01 UTC
The inside of the church was filled with golden shadows and white light, despite the dreariness and violence that filled a majority of the city. People that had sought refuge in the famous, hallowed halls were huddled on the pews, talking quietly amongst themselves of the strange happenings that had stormed the city. One would have expected there to be a bit more hysteria amongst the crowd, but there was a strange sense of serenity that had settled there ( ... )

Charity's gaze locked onto the source of a very familiar call instantly, and an incredulous smile graced her face. "Harry," she breathed, hardly daring to believe she had them back at last. As the children tackled her in an enthusiastic embrace, she choked out a small laugh accompanied by a tear or two. "My babies," she said quietly, tearing her eyes from them for the barest instant to glance upward in gratitude for their safety.

She kissed each of them on the head in turn, ruffling hair and whispering names. "Daniel. Matthew. Alicia. Amanda. Hope. Harry." Her youngest, she hugged especially tightly. "I missed you all so much." And then she looked up again, over the heads of Hope and Harry. Charity knew that unless the worst had come to pass, Michael would never be far from their family in a time like this. She just prayed he was following the children a little bit more slowly.

More than six months. 'Missed' wasn't nearly a strong enough word, and 'joy' and 'relief' were only shadows of what she felt now.

Karrin limped into the church. She wasn't quite sure when she'd been injured in the leg and she had a feeling there were a number of other injuries, however it felt good to see the relief wash over the faces of the crowd as they realized there was no demon coming to take them today. Her citizens were protected...at least from that. She felt like collapsing on the spot but she had to take a moment to admire the scene between Charity and her children. It made her feel warm and it was moments like this that she had decided to take the many courses she had.

Karrin turned away and looked outside to the city, she couldn't help but wonder what the others were up to and how their fights were going.

She-Hulk came to the doors of the church and stopped, taking a deep breath. She could not go inside covered in blood and being green. She chose just covered in blood, calming herself and shrinking down into the slender figure of Jennifer before she walked into the church.

A smile almost made it to her lips, though her bottom lip was split open and it was painful to express the emotion she felt seeing Charity reunited with her family. Her nose tingled slightly and her eyes pricked, at least that had not been a lie. They were okay. She saw Karrin, worn and tired, and walked past her, touching her shoulder gently before moving on. Hopefully none of them saw the battle, so they would not ask what had happened. Not even Jennifer truly knew.
