Hey, I have a job for you. Yeah, you. Previous volunteer experience NOT needed.
So we're (Red Cross) opening shelters now for evacuees from heavily zombied areas. According to MEMA there aren't really any unaffected areas, but people are leaving their homes and we've been told to activate our shelter plans, so bear with me. Yes, they are waiving "no weapons in the shelter."
Most of our shelter facilities, we think, aren't really defensible against zombies. But we don't know which, and we're just getting started. It will take time and manpower to start surveying them, and honestly, I would trust some of the BC kids to assess zombie vulnerability, but not everyone around here. Like, Somerville High School? Flood safe, but would you count it as more safe against zombies than your average mall? Or is it a big brain buffet?
So if you have a) a reliable car and b) excellent Boston driving skills and c) zombie defense clue, reply or call me and I will give you a list of current potential shelter sites (yes, we're compiling it as I type) to survey. Maybe I get to go with you, I don't know. I would say expect hazardous road conditions, but you can look outside and figure that out.
Bonuses: Free gas, from the sekrit MEMA fuel stashes. (Knowledge of where some sekrit MEMA fuel stashes are.) One of those little "let this person go wherever they like in a crisis" tags, which the zombies won't care about, but DHS and the Staties might if you put on your honest face. Maybe.
