I went back to the clinic for another X-ray today. Unfortunately, my hopes of getting out of the aircast and being able to work next week were dashed. He was only just getting his normal cast off and replacing it with an aircast, and the doctor was reminding him that he can't take baths because immersing the month-old surgical wound would be bad.

Ick.

As an aside (and I'm not trying to be preachy or condescending - it's just tough to mention this without sounding a bit like it, so I'm prefacing it), please do try to get some kind of physical activity in while you're stuck at home. I know you can't really walk around easily, but even stretching, isometric stuff while you're sitting down, something.

I only say this because I knew a guy in high school who was reasonably athletic (not on any teams or anything - just sorta casually active, y'know?), and blew out his ankle. Laid him up for 2-3 months, and he didn't do much of anything for that time. He was way hosed after that time (I recall it being mostly over the summer), and when the time came for touch football games, he was way behind where he used to be.

It'd just suck for the start of larp season (or even the revel), y'know?

Just sayin'. Take it for what it's worth. If nothing else, the lack of need for crutches rocks!
