Those that don't know, in Real Life I love tinkering and art crafting. Long I have desired to fabricate costumes, sculptures and props. All on my own terms of course.
Back in the 90's I aspired to fabricate the Knight Sabers from Bubblegum Crisis. Through pictures and guessing I made my first vacuum former. After several moves and attempts to improve the original it finally fell apart.
Now, through luck and asking I got hold of an aluminum vacuum bed from a screen printing carousel. I finished the base table this weekend and we have a vacuum bed for plastic thermal forming.
Waiting for the next paycheck to get the heater box and hardware for the holding frame.
My plans can be too big sometimes. I am going to try and start small in fabrications. Eventually I want to sculpt a china doll mask and make it on the vacuum former.
There are some other discoveries that I will share later. For now I wonder what other things I can try to make from plastic. Small at first then we will work up from there.
Course, a lot of this info would have come to me if I asked the community around me. Up till now I would need money to purchase the parts I need. Still don't have that but rummaging for things does help.
