After my first surgery of the morning, I head back out to the board. Just to double check and make sure my surgeries are still in order and nothing has changed. I nod with approve as I stand there, studyin gthe white board

"Derek, how are things?" I ask, pushing my charts slightly to the side. I haven't had a chance to catch up with Derek for too long.

[dr_d_shepherd]

"Things are well, they're things," I offer him a smile as I look over at him. "How are things with you?"

[drpburke]

"Good, busy as usual," I reply. "Have you got time for a coffee? I feel like I'll fall asleep without one this morning."

[dr_d_shepherd]

"I've always got time for a bud."

The only one I really have in this place.

"Busy is good," I state as we fall into step with one another.

[drpburke]

"Busy is great, I just have to make sure that Addison doesn't notice when I'm over hours," I joke as we walk down the hallway.

[dr_d_shepherd]

"Oh yeah, she's on the look out for those."

[drpburke]

"Well she's already rumbled Cristina so it's probably not long until she finds out," I reply. "You must be too busy getting ready for the baby to be over hours."

[dr_d_shepherd]

"I'm too busy with everything else to be over hours," I state. "But I've bought a few things. Parker doesn't want to make any decisions so it's a losing situation. How are you liking your not so new place anymore?"

It's embarrassing to think that I don't even spend enough time there to even call it home but I can't tell anyone else that, "It's good, feels more like home now that we've settled in," I reply. "You should come over for dinner sometime, check out the view from the balcony."

[dr_d_shepherd]

"I bet it's wonderful."

He seems happy, but something just seems a little off. Maybe it's me.

[drpburke]

"I think it's what sold the place to Cristina," I reply. "Well that and how close it is to the hospital."

[dr_d_shepherd]

"I'm going to go with the second option knowing your wife."

[drpburke]

I laugh, "You're definitely not wrong, but strangely enough she's been the one dragging me home these days," I reply.

[dr_d_shepherd]

"I'm shocked," I chuckle as we reach the coffee cart.

[drpburke]

I laugh as we wait in the queue for the coffee cart, "It's just been so busy lately," I reply.

[dr_d_shepherd]

"Send some of your patients my way. I need enough to spread between Parker and Grey."
