Taking Chances
If only Ana was the only woman I needed in my life is the thought that runs through my mind as she runs towards my office door. It was a long sleepless night last night after seeing Aubrey. Of course Ana slept soundly and came into my bed at 5am with her teddy bear as she always does. I know I shouldn't let her, but she's too cute when she snoozes on my chest. I never thought being a father would be so rewarding.
I have no idea what I'm going to do about Aubrey, besides treat her like every other resident. She'll get whatever cases she works for, although for some odd reason I have a feeling Addison wasn't the one who hired her back. But maybe she did. She was the one who gave me the information about the baby. Information Aubrey didn't even give me.
"You princess are going to have a little brother," I say quietly. I don't really know how to explain that to Ana since she doesn't really see Aubrey. Then again I can't let her just come over and there be a new baby around either. I've got awhile to figure that one out though.
I unlock the door and turn the lights on. Ana goes right to the pile of toys I keep in here for her. It's easier than always bringing a bag. "Mommy said something about breakfast, so we'll just have this for now, okay?" I explain to Ana as I hand her a sippy cup filled with milk.
I flop down into my desk chair and watch her play. I wonder if I really have to be a surgeon today. After last night, I just don't want too. Maybe Mark really does have the right idea.
