Outdoor photography class recommendations?

My SO is the proud owner of an older DSLR camera and an outdoor enthusiast. His birthday is coming up, so I thought that an outdoor photography class will be a great present to get him used to the features and settings on his camera, as well as practical tips for photographing outdoors in rugged terrain with variable weather ( Read more... )

My wife did a basic photography class through the Mountaineers Club about 2 years back. I would start there.

I have no idea if the place does any outdoor work, but today's Living Social deal is for photography classes.

I did a course at Seattle Central with a prof who also teaches a street photography class if your SO might be into that. But it doesn't really sound like what you're looking for.

Will keep an eye out for the class, maybe I'll get him a gift certificate to Glazers so he can buy/sign up for whatever he wants.

Photo Center Northwest (http://www.pcnw.org/) has really awesome photography classes -- for a shorter intro class, check the Workshops section to see what is coming up with an outdoor emphasis.

Since he's particularly interested in rugged terrain, there are also sometimes workshops at REI that are outdoor oriented
