I don't have any advice on a good bankruptcy attorney, but I can give you my two cents.
We got pregnant and had a high risk pregnancy in 2001-2002 with NO medical insurance. Our son was also in the NICU for about 3 days....
When it was all said and done, our medical bill was nearly $20,000. ANd since my husband's line of work was in the DOTCOM field, the fallout left us depending more and more on credit cards and stuff... plus my son wouldn't breast feed and diapers and formula aren't exactly the cheapest things in the world.
I guess my point is, that we ended up going to Consumer Credit Counseling Northwest with nearly $30,000 in debt and it has been 3 years since we went into their program. They did all the negotiating with the credit card companies to lower our interest rates and we pay them around $800 a month and they disperse it to everyone we owe.
We will finish up in November.....
So I guess, If you go the bankruptcy route, then be it... but don't shoooo away the credit counseling option either.
