Maximizing the charm of the city to a prospective resident

Situation: I live in Atlanta, not Seattle. I would, however, like very much to move to Seattle and am working towards it.

The current hurdle to overcome: My wife wants to visit Seattle before she commits to moving there. That's fair. Sane. Can't complain about it. So, looks like we'll be heading out in August for a visit.

My question then, natives, is: what should she and I do and/or see while visiting in August to charm the pants off my wife? I'm trying to focus less on touristy crap and more on "what we would enjoy as residents." Outdoor physical activities aren't really the wife's thing, so those can be skipped entirely.

[EDIT] For clarification, we're both great with outdoors scenery... but strenuous outdoor activities like hiking and rock-climbing are right out.

Currently suggested, in no particular order, are the Space Needle, underground tour, people-watching on Capitol Hill, Seattle Center "to stare aghast at the technicolor puke building," Scifi Museum, and taking a train to Vancouver to check out the aquarium there, which is reputed to be much better than Seattle's. (Kinda touristy, but we like aquariums.)

[EDIT 2] I figured it went without saying, so I didn't mention it... but yes, we're well aware that Seattle is not exactly a world leader in annual sunny days. Thanks.

moving, sensationalism
