Stuck in the Oakland Airport

Well I dropped auntiematter off at the Southwest departures gate, go into Alameda to get gas for the rental car, drop off the rental car, take the shuttle to the Southwest terminal and attempt to check my bag. Of course no luck. The flight leaves at 11:00 PST and it is 5:30 PST. They wont accept bagage more that 4 hours before the flight. So I am stuck

Stuck at an airport. Very familiar to me. If I'm looking at things right, you still have four hours at the airport. At least things should be open now. Go forth and claim the coffee!

It seems the time for funerals. On Sunday, I attended a memorial service for my brother-in-law's dad. I don't seem to be at a loss when a death is sudden. It's a shock, it's devastating. For deaths after a long illness and slow decline, it's much more complex. It's sad yet a relief. Dick Timmers had a stroke in June 2007, not long after I arrived. He spent most of the time since in a VA hospital in pain and slowly losing his faculties. They knew that he was going to die so everything had been arranged.

Well I managed to get a breakfast burrito and a soda for $10. I will probably amble over to the PEET's coffee stand for actual caffine. Most of my LJ friends are decompressing from Pantheacon so have given me their condolences and/or hugs there.

Well it could be worse, I could have to pay for internet access here! They even have stations with power, stools and a platform at a comfortable height.
