Also, he could really take advantage, but instead tries to make her feel better, so that's nice, too.

Subjugating Buffy is a task better demons have tried and failed ;) I think Spike realises he's still alive because he gave up on that madness several years ago now. Still, imo there's always going to be a part of her that enjoys ceding power to someone else, at least for a little while...

As for the ending, it's already laid out, but I think you'll enjoy it :)

Great story - and as stated before - wonderful use of saving Giles as damand/justification for their sexual encounter. I like how you are using the "flashback" elements for this dimension and the history of Sunnydale to connect everything.

Very much liked the section with the collar - the delicate quality for a symbol that literally means the destruction of life and loss of freedom. It immediately reminded me of the imagery and symbolism of the balcony scene and that dreamscape showing Buffy's mind giving over her free will to her whipping post - Spike. Buffy wears a very delicate choker/collar in that scene.

I love the power of this line - it's my favorite in the entire story. "Her disdain for him had so many faces"
